The first weekend of fall is here, and the weekend is packed with interesting things to do. The 5th Annual Lunenburg Lit Festival is happening with in-person events, you can go on guided trail walks, check out a vintage market or even try your hand at the medieval Longsword or Irish Stick Fighting! Sept 25 & 26 – The 5th Annual Lunenburg Lit Festival
South Shore Public Libraries is proud to host the 5th Annual Lunenburg Lit Festival this weekend. With numerous in-person panels, presentations, Q&A’s and even an old town walking tour, the Lunenburg Lit Festival has something for everyone. Sept 25 – Clickty-Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)
Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more
experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting.
Sept 25 – Scarecrow Trail Treasure Hunt (Shelburne)
Join the Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks and have a little fall festive fun with “Recreation & Parks!” Stroll along the Roseway River Trail and see if you can spot the scarecrows and pumpkins…..and 2 Treasure Boexs! Take a treasure from the boxes and place them back where you found them. (They will re-fill the boxes when they are empty.) They have placed some hand sanitizers in the boxes. Sept 25 – Walk & Talk with Lockeport Mayor George Harding (Lockeport)
Join Lockeport’s Mayor George Harding for a scenic walk of the Lockeport Loop, that includes the majestic Trestle Trail Bridges this Friday at 10am. Mayor Harding will share information on points of interest along the way. Meet at Seacaps Park, where there’s lots of parking. We’ll have a draw prize from Hike Nova Scotia. Great for all ages and perfect for beginner walkers.
Sept 25 – Pumpkin Painting & Trail Walk (Shelburne)
Join the Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks and celebrate the arrival of Fall with a Pumpking Painting & Trail Walk. You’ll paint some white gourds or pumpkins and then go for a little walk through the Roseway River Trail to find some scarecrows! Partnering with Nature Walks Shelburne County, Shelburne County Homeschoolers & the NS Government of this activity, all ages are welcome. Sept 25 – “Dive Right In” Art Exhibition (Chester)
Chester Art Centre is home to Carol Hansen’s “Dive Right In” exhibition. The exhibition runs from Sept 24 – Oct 8th, a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Check the poster schedule and see when the Artist will be present.
Sept 25 – Jackson & Wirchenko Duo at St. Marks Place (Middle LaHave)
St. Marks Place is bringing the Blues, Rock & Roll, Jump and Swing dance to Middle LaHave this Friday as they welcome Shirley Jackson and Jef Wirchenko. St. Mark’s Place social distance seating arrangement is 34 people total. Face masks are mandatory and no beverages are allowed. Email to reserve your seat.
Sept 25 – Irish Sessions at Lane’s Privateers Inn (Liverpool)

Sept 26 – South Shore Drive In presents “Ghostbusters” (Liverpool)
South Shore Drive In is very excited to release this weekends movie for Hank Snow Community Park. . . . Ghostbusters! Three former parapsychology professors set up shop as a unique ghost removal service. Show time is at Dusk, with parking opening at 7:30 Admission is $10 per vehicle, and concessions and washrooms are on site.
Sept 26 – Music Weekend at the Queens County Fairgrounds (Caledonia)
Queens County Fair Ground is home to a Music Weekend, this Freidya & Saturday. Top Notch and Route 12 are your headliners Friday evening starting at 7pm. Saturday is a music jam beginning at Noon and the Salt Water Cowboys taking the stage at 6pm. Admission is $5, kids under 15 are free.
Sept 26 – “The Last Goin Off” Book Launch (Blue Rocks)
Nevermore Press is hosting an in-person book launch for The Last Goin’ Off by Rhian Calcott at Saint Barnabas’ Church in Blue Rocks, where the novel is set. When his father and older brother are lost at sea, fourteen-year-old Aaron Conrad finds himself the reluctant ‘head of the household’ and family breadwinner. His dream to continue his education beyond what is available at the Lunenburg Academy is now in peril. Aaron is forced to pursue the life of a fisherman aboard the very boat that claimed the lives of his family members. This event is part of the Lunenburg Lit Festival.
Sept 26 – Women’s Ride (Mahone Bay
Join Sweet Ride Cycling for their Women’s Ride. Take a relaxing ride along the Bay to Bay Trail, returning along the quiet roadway through Sunnybrook and Maders Cove. Departing Saturday at 9am and returning at approximately 10:30am. A hybrid, gravel bike or mountain bike would be appropriate for this ride. Sept 26 – All Levels Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga (New Germany)
Join Yoga with Lisa Saturdays for All Levels Hatha Flow Yoga classes. The Four Points Vintage Market invites you to join them the Fall edition of the Four Points Vintage Market, a traditional farm field antique sale. Over 40 quality vintage and antique sellers, some fantastic makers, and of course food and fun! Sept 26 – 2nd Annual Hemford Hill Music Festival and Fundraiser (Hemford)
Announcing the 2nd annual Hemord Hill music festival/ fundraiser this Saturday from 11am-7pm. This year the festival will be held in Alex Peelers name and we are fundraising for three organizations In our local community; Art Happening, Muscular Dystrophy and Second Story Women’s Centre. This special Introductory class, no experience required, will show you the starting fundamentals of Medieval Italian Longsword. Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures building on throughout the summer. Shelburne NS Lions Club Events presents David Burbine& Traditional Country this Sunday from 2-5pm. All your favourite Country songs in a safe, relaxing environment.
