As we step closer to officially being fall, there are a number of great, outdoor events taking place, from yoga, to try-it biking, to your own personal Terry Fox Run. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there is plenty to do indoors or online like art shows, book signings, craft shows and Open Farm Day. Sept 18 – Wing Nights at the Lunenburg Legion (Lunenburg)
Lunenburg Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 invites you to Wing Night this Friday, and every Friday following! A fun night, with good food and friends, starting at 5pm. Covid precautions are in place.
Sept 18 – Jam Session at New Germany Legion (New Germany)
New Germany Legion – Branch 102 is having a little jam session at the Legion this Friday from 7-9pm. You can come and listen, or participate. Hosted by The Yesterday Band, listening guests there’s a $2 admission. There will be ribbon fries for sale, and other snacks. Happy hour at the downstairs bar starts at 7pm – $3 drinks. Sept 18 – The Shorelines CD Release at King Street Beer Co (Bridgewater)
The Shorelines are having their CD Release Party this Friday at King Street Beer Co. This is a 19+, ticketed event. Tickets are $10 with a portion of the proceeds going to #ivegotyourback911, a group of first responders helping first responders through hard times!
Sept 18 – Zamani live at St. Mark’s Place (Middle LaHave)
St. Mark’s Place is proud to present Zamani as a part of their Cabaret Series. Singer, Songwriter, Producer – Zamani composes, produces and performs a unique brand of R&B, Soul, Urban Jazz and Pop music and has toured with Genuine, Maya, and UB40. St. Mark’s Place social distance seating arrangement is 34 people total. Face masks are mandatory and no beverages are allowed. All tickets are $20, email to reserve your seat.
Sept 18 – South Shore Drive In Special Presentation (Liverpool) *POSTPONED DUE TO FORECAST
Hello movie goers, South Shore Drive In is having a special showing this Friday at 8:30 pm, as Mayoral Candidate Susan MacLeod has sponsored and will be presenting “Dirty Dancing“. Admission is $10 to Hank Snow Community Park, concessions and washrooms are available, and parking opens at 7:30pm.

Sept 19 – Sea Glass Mosaic Workshop (Mahone Bay)
ShoreThing SeaGlass Classes is hosting a Sea Glass Mosaic Workshop this Saturday at the Mahone Bay Centre at 10:30am. Come and learn how to make one of these beautiful sea glass mosaics. The class fee of $50 includes all supplies and a 11 x 14” frame. The class fee of $30 includes all supplies and an 8×10” frame. Sept 19 – Try-It Biking (Shelburne)
Come give biking a try! The Municipality of Shelburne Rec Dept are hosting Try-It Biking. Join Janice Rand and Recreation & Parks staff for a fun, free introduction to biking that’s designed especially for beginners, families and those who are a little rusty. Bring your bike, they will fit your helmet and set up your bike so you are ready to ride. Janice will cover safety (arm signals etc.), basic tools and other tips and tricks. Sept 19 – The Square Show Opening Reception (Bridgewater)
The Square Show at the DesBrisay Museum is open September 1st to 30th, and they are holding their Opening Reception this Friday at 7pm. The Square Show is a group exhibition of local artists working within an 8×8 inch square size, this year we have 61 artists and 160 art works! Most works will be available for purchase starting on the night of the opening, the prices range from $20 and $150. The exhibition will be viewed in small groups to respect social distancing. Sept 19 – Alice Burdick Book Signing (Lahave)
LaHave River Books is pleased to invite you to Alice Burdick‘s signing of her new book: “Grandma’s Cookies, Cakes, Pies and Sweets.” Delicious desserts, simply made with tasty ingredients, many of us remember fondly from our youth. Now all these delicious dishes are ready for revival. Ms. Burdick will be in store from 1-3pm, this Saturday.
Sept 19 – Saturdays in the Park (Lunenburg)
Saturdays in the Park presented by the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society. Saturdays through the warmer months, 2-3pm at the Bandstand in Lunenburg. This week they welcome Ced & Marty to the stage.
Sept 19 – 6 Hours of Music at The Nosy Crow (Mahone Bay)
The Nosy Crow is excited to partner up with the Saltbox Brewery & Buchanan’s House of Music and announce the “6 Hours of Music” event on Sept 19, 2020 from 12-6pm. If your around Mahone Bay, drop by and sample some great local talent and maybe some liquid refreshments & snacks.
Sept 19 – Our Health Centre YardSale (Chester)
Our Health Centre has rescheduled their annual May Yard Sale to this Saturday. Head to the corner of Valley Road and HWY 3, between 9am-1pm and do a little treasure hunting for a good cause. Rain Date is Sept 20
Sept 19 – Seaside Centre Craft Show (Beach Meadows)
The Seaside Recreation & Community Centre in Beach Meadows is holding a Craft Show this weekend. Open Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm, this show is free admission, though donations at the door are appreciated. Do some local shopping, enjoy some lunch and get a raffle ticket for a prize basket!
Sept 19 – Oktoberfest at King Street Beer Co. (Bridgewater)
Come to King St. Beer Co. for an all day Oktoberfest party! With Old Black Forest, authentic German food on site, cask tapping with a special guest, and Callehan live!
Sept 19 – South Shore Drive In “Ladder 49” (Greenfield)
This Saturday night, South Shore Drive In will be in Greenfield N.S. for a community showing, and we are playing Ladder 49. They will be beside the fire hall in Greenfield, in the baseball field. Parking opens at 7:30pm, with show starting at 8:30pm. Concessions and washrooms are available on site, and admission to the show is $15.
Sept 19 – Dock Street Uke Camp 2020 Flash Concerts (Online)
Dock Street Uke Camp 2020 presents their Stay The Blazes Home Edition ~ Flash Concerts with Digga Digga Duo at 1pm and Fragile Lucy at 3pm. Though the concert is free, we hope that you’ll consider dropping a few bucks into the camp Tip Jar.

Sept 20 – 2020 Terry Fox Run (Virtual Event)
The Terry Fox Run is a little different this year, but a wonderful event none the less. Taking place wherever you are; around your neighbourhood, backyard, down the street, or around the block. Choose your town, and register as an individual, family or a virtual team and start your fundraising today! Cancer research can’t wait for COVID-19 to be over and because Terry would not have let it stop him either.
Sept 20 – Atlantic Virtual Open Farm Day 2020 (Online)
The 20th Atlantic Open Farm Day is going online this year. With a goal to inform the public on how their food gets onto their plates; thereby, increasing the demand for local food products, join over 30+ Farms throughout the Atlantic region as they welcome you to their operations virtually. Sept 20 – Mi’kmaq & Acadian Gathering at Fort Point Museum(LaHave)
Mi’kmaq and Acadians will gather at Fort Point Museum this Sunday from 1-4pm. Everyone is welcome. It will be a beautiful outdoors gathering for a “Variety Show” with lots of activities, entertainers including Beating Heart Drummers South Shore – traditional youth singers, Micci and Izzy – Acadian singers, Elsie & Friends and more. Sept 20 – All levels Vinyasa Yoga (Bridgewater)
Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures building on throughout the summer. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. Sept 20 – Book Signing with Deborah Hemming (LaHave)

Sept 20 – Lennie Gallant live at Petite Riviere Vineyards (Petite Riviere)
Petite Riviere Vineyards is pleased to welcome Lennie Gallant for an intimate concert this Sunday from 5-7pm. Recognized by his peers as one of Canada’s best performing songwriters, Lennie Gallant has released thirteen albums of original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations. Doors open at 4:30pm. Tickets are grouped in seats of two, four and six. Space is limited so book your seats soon. Guests are asked to wear masks when inside and during the concert.
