It’s Thanksgiving weekend, a chance to get together, safely of course, with friends and family and enjoy each others company in these COVID times. What’s Happening on the South Shore Friday October 9th, 2020
Oct 9 – Clickity-Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)
Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting.
Oct 9 & 10 – Camp Awesome South Shore Book Tour (Liverpool & Bridgewater)
To celebrate the launch of their two newest books, Camp Awesome are packing up the van and hitting the road for their first Book Tour.
They are going to be reading their books along the South Shore.
They will be visiting the South Shore Public Library in Liverpool Friday Oct 9 at 3pm, then on Saturday they will be at the Lunenburg location at 10:30am and Bridgewater Library at 2pm.
Oct 9 – Irish Session at Lane’s Privateer Inn (Liverpool)
Join Lane’s Privateer Inn for an evening of toe tapping traditional Irish music performed in the “session” format round the table. It’s an informal and fun evening of great music and food for the whole family. Irish Sessions has no cover charge! To reserve tables for dinner, call 902 354 3456

Oct 10 – Teen Challenge Eco Challenge (Gaff Point)
Eastport Financial Group Inc , The Barn and Chickenburger invite you to take part in an Eco Challenge this Saturday at Gaff Point. Meet up at 1pm and go for a leisurely hike or compete for prizes. Registration is $25 per person will all proceeds going to Teen Challenge.
Oct 10 – Fire Prevention Week Open House (Mill Village)
The Mill Village and District Volunteer Fire Department invites you to a fire station open house this Saturday from 1:30-4pm. Come check out the apparatus and equipment, Learn about what services they provide, Enjoy some light refreshments, Partake in fire extinguisher training and Watch a Jaws of Life demonstration. Social distancing guidelines in effect. Please bring a mask. If you are interested please RSVP so we have an idea of numbers
Oct 10 & 11 – 2 Day Horse/Ox Pull Event (Shelburne)
Shelburne County Exhibition is hosting a 2-Day Horse/Ox Pull Thanksgiving weekend! Events include Horse haul. Light, Medium, Heavy Classes. Admission per day is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for 12 and under, free for 5 and under.
Oct 10 – Shelburne County Giant Pumpkin Festival (Shelburne)
The Shelburne County Giant Pumpkin Festival is going on Rain or Shine this Saturday. Face painting, Balloon Animals, and Pumpkin Carving and of course the Giant Pumpkin weigh-in will all take place under the Guild Hall. Oct 10 – Beer Run with 902 Atheltics (Bridgewater)
Come out for a fun day with a Beer Run with 902 Athletics! Start with a workout at 902 (optional to workout or just cheer people on), Beer/Cider must be finished prior to you run, walk or crawl to King Street Beer Co. for another workout, Beer/Cider, and then head back to 902 for a BBQ. After you recoup head back to King Street Beer for the after party. All for fun and fundraising, a portion of all proceeds will go to Hope for Wildlife. Sponsored by 902 Athletics and King Street Beer, with support from Stan’s Dad and Lad, this is the Thanksgiving event you don’t want to miss!
Oct 10 – Saturdays in the Park (Lunenburg)
Saturdays in the Park presented by the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society. Join them Saturdays 2-3pm at the Bandstand in Lunenburg, while the weather behaves. This week enjoy the music of Cladach.
Oct 10 – Free Fiddling Youth Workshop (Lunenburg)
Know any young fiddlers? The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society is hosting a free youth fiddling workshop including this Saturday at 10am. There is also performance with Mahone Bay group, Cladach to enjoy and perhaps even join! Registration is required, rain date Oct 11th
Oct 10 – Public Skate at the LCLC (Bridgewater)
The LCLC is happy to have public skates happening again! They have full public skates from 5:00 – 6:15 on both Friday and Saturday nights over the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye on their facebook page for more dates announced. Visit the LCLC Website for all COVID-19 Requirements.
Oct 10 – Yuk Yuks at New Germany Legion (New Germany)
New Germany Legion – Branch 102, is bringing the laughs to the South Shore with Yuk Yuks! Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Cash bar and select food menu available. Tickets are $20/person and sold in advance only at the New Germany Legion or Contact Debbie @ 902-398-0081. There will be No holds. This is a 19+ event.
Oct 10 – Gypsy Minstrels live at Osprey Nest (Petite Riviere)
The Osprey Nest Public House welcomes back the Gypsy Minstrels. Join them this Saturday from 6-9, hopefully it will be nice enough to be on the patio!
Oct 10 – Weather Advisory live at Saltbox (Mahone Bay)
Saltbox Brewery is proud to have local favourites Weather Advisory join them this Saturday. Music starts at 7pm. Head on down for some good music, good drinks and enjoy the long weekend.
Oct 10 – South Shore Drive In presents “Gremlins”(Caledonia) **UPDATED
South Shore Drive In is setting up this Saturday at Gateway Campground in Caledonia. Pack the car and head out to enjoy “Halloween Town“. When Grandma Aggie comes visiting, the Piper children notice her use magic. Curious, they follow her back to Halloweentown where Aggie and their mother Gwen are attacked by the dark forces. Showtime is at dusk, usually around 7:30pm, with parking opening at 6:30pm. Concessions and washrooms will be available on site, and admission is $15 per vehicle.
Oct 10 – GameChangers live at FirkenStein (Bridgewater)
The GameChangers are back at the Firkenstein to help you celebrate Thanksgiving weekend! Join them from 8-11pm for great tunes and tasty drinks.

Oct 11 – All Levels Vinyasa Yoga (Bridgewater)
Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. Oct 11 – Celtic Sessions at Saltbox (Mahone Bay)
Saltbox Brewing Co. invites you to Celtic Sessions this Sunday from 2-4. Offer to pick up the drinks for Thanksgiving dinner and spend the afternoon getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner with The Buchanans.
Oct 11 – Sunday in the Park with Steve (The Ovens)
The Ovens Natural Park invites you to the last music event of the 2020 season. Join them for “Sunday in the Park with Steve” this Sunday at 5pm. One last chance to catch dinner and music with an amazing ocean view! Call 902-766-4621 to reserve your table!
