Well here we are, the first week of October, the leaves starting their colourful show and the weather still nice enough to get out and enjoy Mother Nature. Outdoors Yoga, Family Bike Scavenger Hunt, live music and even a Drive Through Fish ‘n’ Chips supper! Oct 2 – Queens County Museum reopened to the public (Liverpool)
Queens County Museum is open to the public again. Their hours Monday-Saturday 9am-4pm, what a wonderful way to spend some time on the weekend. Masks & social distancing protocols are to be followed.
Oct 2 – Comedy Night at Black Harbour Distillery (Hubbards)
Black Harbour Distillery is bringing some laughs to the South Shore with Yuk Yuk on Tour, this Friday at 8:00pm. At this time our reservations are sold out for the Comedy night. You can show up the night of as the “Bar” side of the distillery will be open! You are welcomed to email to be added to the cancellation list. Ticket Price is $20 per person.
Oct 2 – Broken Bridges live at Firkenstein Brewing (Bridgewater)
FirkinStein Brewing welcomes back Broken Bridges this Friday. Taking the stage at 8pm, this duo always entertains.
Oct 2 – Tim Baker live at the Shore Club (Hubbards)
The Shore Club in Hubbards invites you to let Tim Baker serenade you this fall with his grand piano and a table of your best friends. Tickets are sold per table of 6-10 people. Please see the full Facebook event for instructions and COVID-19 procedures.
Oct 2 – Old Black Forest Restaurant on site at King Street Beer Co. (Bridgewater)
King Street Beer Co. welcomes back the gang from the Old Black Forest Restaurant this Friday from 5-9pm. Head down for some great beer and delicious German fare.

Oct 3 & 4 – Curb-side Giveaway Weekend
A pilot Curbside Giveaway Weekend will be held in the Town of Lunenburg as well as the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, Bridgewater and Mahone Bay this weekend between 7am & 5pm each day. Rid yourself of some clutter and find some great free items of your own! Put out your unwanted, reusable items instead of discarding them. It’s a great way to keep them out of landfill, while allowing someone else to find something new. Please see the full event listing for all the details, suggestions and COVID-19 safety measures.
Oct 3 – All Levels Vinyasa Yoga ( New Germany)
Join Yoga with Lisa Saturdays for All Levels Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes. This is an outdoor class overlooking the LaHave River with plenty of space and shade.The class is designed for someone new to yoga or someone with yoga experience. Oct 3 – Sashiko Embroidery Workshop (Chester)
Chester Art Centre is hosting a Sashiko Embroidery Workshop this weekend. Sashiko embroidery is a Japanese textile mending and reinforcing technique involving a simple running stitch that creates beautiful yet practical embellishments. Saturday is Beginners Class and Advanced takes place on Sunday. Cost $175 for the workshop plus $50 for materials. YOu can register here.
Oct 3 – Fundraiser for Barrington Municipal Exhibition (Barrington)
Ghost Town Heroes will be playing from 3-5pm this Saturday to help raise funds for the Barrington Municipal Exhibition. All proceeds will go towards maintenance and upgrades of the Exhibition grounds. Admission is by donation. There will also be a craft sale taking place on-site from 1-5pm. This will be an outdoor event. Bring Your Own Chair, Observe Social Distancing guidelines.
Oct 3 – Saturdays in the Park (Lunenburg)
Saturdays in the Park presented by the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society. Join them Saturdays 2-3pm at the Bandstand in Lunenburg, while the weather behaves. This week enjoy the music of Dave Gunning.
Oct 3 – Rotary Flea Market (Lunenburg)
Rotary Luneburg is happy to announce the return of the Rotary Flea Market this Saturday. Head to the Lunenburg Arena from 9am-12pm and do some treasure hunting. COVID-19 procedures will be in place, social distancing and masks.
Oct 3 – Kristen Martell and Caribou Run – Live @ Mahone Bay Gazebo (Mahone Bay)
Join Mahone Bay singer/songwriter Kristen Martell and the Mahone Bay based award-winning neofolk band Caribou Run for an afternoon of free music at the Mahone Bay Gazebo. Bring a chair/blanket and enjoy a safe, outdoor and socially distant event.
Oct 3 – Drive Through Fish ‘n’ Chips (Mahone Bay)
After the success of their first drive thru fish and chips this summer, the Walden Volunteer Fire Department is doing it again, this Saturday. All orders are a two 4 oz fresh fillets of haddock, Fries, Tartar sauce, coleslaw and pop/water for $13. To keep contact to a minimum people are asked to remain in their vehicles and a department member will take your order deliver it. There will be signs set as to entrance and exit of department yard. There will be no pre-orders. Proceeds are for the Walden Volunteer Fire Department.
Oct 3 – Shag Harbour “After the Crash Tour” (Shag Harbour)
The Shag Harbour UFO Incident Society presents After the Crash Tour. Join in the fun & mystery on October 3rd! Screening of Legends of the Deep, Helen Shand’s documents of the incident and a tour of key sites of the 1967 UFO Incident! Full details on the Society’s Facebook page!
Oct 3 – Family Bike Scavenger Hunt
The District of Lunenburg Recreation Dept. is kicking off Lunenburg County Bike Week with a fun, family bicycle scavenger hunt at River Ridge Common! A great opportunity for families to ride the trails together, on your own time, to find up to six colourful pinecones hanging in the trees throughout the park. Take a photo of your family participating and send it to e-mail it in to be entered to win gift certificates!
Oct 3 – Tanner & Co. Brewing Tasting at White Point (Liverpool)
Get your tastebuds ready, White Point Beach Resort has invited their friends from Tanner & Co. Brewery to host a fall tasting. Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures building on throughout the summer. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. Oct 4 – “A Great Big Night” Book Launch with Kate Inglis (Lunenburg)
Join the Lunenburg School of the Arts a they celebrate the release of Kate Inglis‘s latest picture book for kids: A GREAT BIG NIGHT. Oct 4 – Virtual Oktoberfest Variety Show (New Germany)
Forties Community Centre are hosting Oktoberfest, a little differently this year. Visit the Forties Community Centre Facebook page after 2pm to enjoy online entertainment by local artists. Ricky Naugler, Sterling Gates & Rodney Swinemar, Rusty and the Girls and Derrek Swinemar. These events sponsored in part by Canadian Heritage, Municipality of Chester, New Ross Credit Union and Ross Farm Museum.
Oct 4 – Family Campfire at the MARC (Dayspring)
The District of Lunenburg Recreation invite you to their Family Campfire this weekend with Sam’s Woodland Tours! We’ll have games, campfire songs, and even bannock to cook over the fire! If there is a burn ban on (again) we will cook the bannock over charcoal in a dutch oven – either way, we are going to play! Oct 4 – “4.48 Psychosis” at Lordly House Museum (Chester)
Presented by Caravan Theatre, “4:48 Psychosis“, by playwright Sarah Kane, takes a deep dive into issues of mental health and suicide. Lyrical and raw, grim yet humorous, the play beautifully expresses ugly truths: isolation, stigma, and the longing for self-esteem and community understanding. Following each performance, audience members are invited to join the cast and community wellness partners who will facilitate a post-show conversation. Oct 4 – Harvest Food Celebration (Petite Riviere)
Harvest season is here and Petite Riviere Vineyards want to celebrate! Gather a group of your friends and family and book a table for the Harvest Food Celebration on October 4th from 4-6pm.
