Nov 08 – Bless Me Father – Dinner Theatre (Mahone Bay)
Have A Laugh Players are coming to Mahone Bay for the St. James Anglican Parish fund raiser Dinner Theatre. “ Bless Me Father” is a giggle out loud comedy set in the Holy Family Rectory where Fr Charles and Father Richard live and misunderstandings abound!! Some wonderful chefs will be preparing your meal and we are serving a 3 course roast beef dinner, with a vegetarian option of a black bean burger. Please come and see us, have some wonderful laughs and help us raise funds for the church! Only $25 for the dinner and theatre.
Nov 8 – MICA Gala Dinner and Silent Auction (Oak Island Resort)
The Mahone Islands Conservation Association is hosting it’s annual Gala Dinner and Silent Auction this Friday at Oak Island Resort and Conference Centre. Reception and Silent Auction opens at 5:30 pm, Live Auction and Dinner promptly at 7pm. A selection of auction items may be viewed on their web site. Raffle tickets and Surprise Bags will once again be available for purchase. Tickets are $65 each which includes a three course meal, coffee/tea, tax and gratuities with seating at tables of eight. Nov 8 – Lumberjacks Hockey (Bridgewater)
The Grand Falls Rapids – Rapides de Grand-Sault make their only visit to the LCLC this regular season Friday. The game is being sponsored by the newly re-branded and now open Lunenburg County Fitness Center, watch for them in the lobby, they will have some great specials available and incentives to sign up and get a head start on your new year’s resolution!! Nov 8 – “Judy” at the Astor Theatre (Liverpool)
It’s movie night at the Astor Theatre, this week they are showing “Judy” starring Renee Zellweger. Following the story of Judy Garland thirty years after starring in “The Wizard of Oz,” arriving in London to perform sold-out shows at the Talk of the Town nightclub. While there, she reminisces with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband. Tickets are at the door, $8 matinee and $10 evening shows.
Nov 8 – Rachel Beck featuring the Atlantic String Machine (Chester)
The Chester Playhouse is proud to present Rachel Beck featuring The Atlantic String Machine. An exciting new collaboration which invites audiences to experience Beck’s original compositions against a lush soundscape of piano, strings, and percussion. Beck’s warm stage presence and superb vocals envelope listeners as they collectively journey across a wide emotional range – from regret and grief to wonder and joy. Nov 8 – Still Fired Band does Friday Night Fever (Liverpool)
Liverpool Legion Friday Night Fever welcomes the Still Fired Band. Head down for a night of dancing with your friends! Three full sets of popular cover songs. $8 cover, this is a legal age event.

Nov 9 – Diwali Festival of Lights Celebration (Bridgewater)
Head to the Michelin Social Club and join in the Diwali Festival of Lights Celebration. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance” (wikipedia). Join the celebration with delicious food, cultural performances, music and dance.
Nov 9 – 2nd Annual Seaside Centre Christmas Craft Show (Brooklyn)
Make your way to the Seaside Recreation & Community Centre for their 2nd Annual Christmas Craft Show. Get a start on your holiday shopping, peruse local goods and crafts at this holiday market.
Nov 9 – Fall Classic Hockey Tournament (Shelburne)
Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association is excited to be once again hosting our annual Fall Classic tournament November 9th & 10th for the Atom C & Peewee C divisions. Head down to the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena and cheer them on!
Nov 9 – Cranberry Festival at White Point (Liverpool)
White Point Beach Resort is pulling back the curtain on this locally grown superfood with Cranberry Festival. Nov 9 – A Walking Tribute to our Service Men and Women (Bridgewater)
Join local historian Peter Oickle at Brookside Cemetery on Saturday at 10am for a 90-minute Walking Tribute on the history of those who have served in Canada’s Armed Forces and rest in Brookside Cemetery. This is a free event. Participants are asked to meet at the Cenotaph. In the event of rain, the rain date/time will be Sunday, November 10, at 2 p.m.
Nov 9 – Natural/Plant Based Dyeing Class (Mahone Bay)
Have a Yarn is hosting fibre artist Evelyn Allen with a workshop on Natural/Plant Based Dyeing. In this brand new class, students will learn a dyeing method that they will be able to use with most plants, flowers, and lichens. Join the DesBrisay Museum for an afternoon Remembrance Day Celebration of our veterans. Starting at 2 p.m. there will be a Fallen Soldiers’ Display Table, readings of letters from the troops, video, music by the Bridgewater Fire Department Band Quartet, and refreshments. Nov 9 – Reading with author Jan L. Coates (Mahone Bay)
Head to the Biscuit Eater Cafe & Bookstore for an afternoon Reading with Jan L. Coates. Presented Nevermore Press , Wolfville author, Jan L. Coates, will be reading and signing her tenth book for young readers, a tale of magical realism, complete with a Fairy Dogmother, that takes twelve-year-old Jake MacKinnon on a truth-seeking journey into the worlds of poverty, homelessness and mental health struggles. Nevermore Press is pleased to announce that it will donate $1 from the sale of every book to Feed Nova Scotia.
Nov 9 – Snowman Sea Glass Christmas Workshop (Dayspring)
The Bridgewater Pathfinders invite you to come on out for a festive fun at a Snowman Sea Glass Christmas Workshop. There is a snowman theme for this workshop – you can do one large snowman, or up to 5 smaller snowmen in a frame or- be as creative as you like and make your own design! Geocaching goes Hollywood! Join I.B. Geocaching Supplies / Island Buttons in Bridgewater to watch the hot new caching films of 2019 in the Geocaching International Film Festival. Nov 9 – Live Music & Social Mahone Bay Legion
Music is back at the Mahone Bay Legion this Saturday. Classic R&B, Pop & Rock will have you tapping your toes. Bring your pool cue or your dancing shoes, you are bound to be on your feet one way or another. Music starts at 8pm. $10 cover at the door.
Nov 9 – Greenfield Christmas Luncheon (Greenfield)
The Greenfield Sewing Circle is holding their annual Christmas Luncheon and Sale on Nov. 9 from 12 – 1:30 pm at the Greenfield and District Volunteer Fire Department Hall. Handiwork, crafts, bake table, and cookie trays, along with a lunch of turkey with potato salad and cranberry salad.

Nov 10 – Official Launch of the South Shore Christmas Crawl
The Nova Scotia South Shore Tourism Cooperative launches the South Shore Christmas Crawl website this weekend. Inviting you to sip and savour the festive season along the South Shore, the interactive map is updated regularly with new events, and aims to help make your holiday planning that much easier.
Nov 10 – 30th Annual Blandford Arts & Craft Fair (Blandford)
The Blandford Community Centre is hosting the 30th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair. Offering unique handcrafted works from 40 Artisan vendors: Christmas decorations, jams, jellies, pottery, paintings, baked goods, and much more! Admission is $2 for adults & under 12 are free. Door prizes and hourly prizes will be drawn. There will be a canteen and lunch plate available.
Nov 10 – Artists of White Point Show & Sale (Liverpool)
Back for the 7th Year, it’s the incredibly popular and hyper-local Artists of White Point Show & Sale! Head to White Point Sunday from 10am – 4pm to mingle and meander among more than 40 Artists from our neighbourhood and across Nova Scotia! This annual show features artists and creators who we proudly represent in our Gift Shop year-round here at White Point. Free admission.
Nov 10 – Beethoven with Jane Coop (Lunenburg)
Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance is pleased to present one of Canada’s most distinguished artists, pianist Jane Coop, performing an all-Beethoven program on Sunday at 2:30 pm. Ms Coop will perform an all-Beethoven program (two sonatas and a bagatelle) as an early kick off to LAMP’s year-long 2020 celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of the great composer’s birth. Nov 10 – Snowman Paint Night (Gunning Cove)

Nov 10 – Rob Lutes at the Winery (Petite Riviere)
Join Petite Riviere in welcoming Canadian Blues Artist Rob Lutes. Winner 2018 Canadian Folk Music Awards – Contemporary Singer of the Year and nominated for two Maple Blues Awards. Nov 10 – Eric Mills and Danny Jacobs Reading (Lunenburg)
Lexicon Books is excited to present a wonderful Evening of Nonfiction Readings, about place in the Maritimes. Danny Jacobs, visiting from New Brunswick, with his book Sourcebooks for Our Drawings: Essays & Remnants, and Eric Mills, with his book Audubon in Nova Scotia: An Excerpt from the Journals of John James Audubon. Natural and personal history, a wonderful mix.
November 11 – Remembrance Day
As we enjoy all the events happening this weekend leading to Remembrance Day on Monday, take a moment to reflect and be thankful of the sacrifice of the many, giving us the freedoms we enjoy everyday. If you can, attend one of the Remembrance Day Ceremonies taking place at your local Royal Canadian Legion. Lest we forget.
