What’s Happening on the South Shore this Weekend (Nov 6 – 8, 2020)

Welcome November, bringing you shorter days, cooler weather, true “stay home, stay cosy” vibes. The South Shore, however, has lots going on to tempt you out of the house. Go for a skate, check out some of the first Christmas markets, try your hand at Irish Stick Fighting, or cheer on the South Shore Lumberjacks. Nov 6 – Clickity Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)

Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting.

Nov 6 – New Faces Friday (Online)

The incredible gang at NOW Lunenburg County want to welcome all the new faces to the area with New Faces Friday. Please join them for a Zoom call so we can learn about some of the new amazing people coming to our community. Visit the Facebook event and reserve your spot!

Nov 6 – Ludwig at the LAMP (Lunenburg)

Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance invites you to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven with a special concert series. This Friday LAMP presents the Piano Sonatas performed by Walter Delahunt, Marika Bournaki, David Potvin, Lala Lee, Ian Tomaz and Tong Wang. All concerts begin at 7 pm unless otherwise noted. Attendance will be capped at 50 with attendees seated in bubbles of one-to-four persons. Masks will be required, Admission is by donation, with charitable tax receipts issued for donations of $50 and more. To reserve your seats, please contact us by email or call 902-634-8667. Nov 6 – Lumberjack Hockey at the LCLC (Bridgewater)

Cheer on the South Shore Lumberjacks this Friday. Puck drops at 7pm with Lumberjacks taking on the Truro Bearcats. Tickets are available online. Please full list of Fan Protocols before getting to the rink.

Nov 6 – Irish Sessions at Lane’s Privateer Inn (Liverpool)

Join Lane’s Privateer Inn for an evening of toe tapping traditional Irish music performed in the “session” format round the table. It’s an informal and fun evening of great music and food for the whole family. No cover charge! To reserve tables for dinner, call 902 354 3456

Nov 6 – Public Skates at the LCLC (Bridgewater)

The LCLC is open again and has public skates planned for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Grab your skates, your bubble members and head out onto the ice.

Nov 6 – Air Traffic Control live at FirkenStein (Bridgewater)

Lunenburgs favourite sons Air Traffic Control are heading to FirkenStein Brewing this Friday. Guaranteed to be a great evening. $5 cover fee, band goes on at 8pm!

Nov 6 – Shawn Hebb live at Bayport Pub (Bayport)

Nov 7 – Seaside Community Centre Christmas Craft Show (Beach Meadows)

The Seaside Centre in Beach Meadows is hosting their annual Christmas Craft show this Saturday. Join them from 10am-4pm and do a little early Christmas shopping and enjoy a delicious lunch. Donations at the door and raffle tickets for sale.

Nov 7 – Privateers Extended Farmers Market (Liverpool)

The Privateer Farmers Market has moved inside. Visit them Saturday 9am-12pm at Queens Florist, 186 Church St. Check their facebook page for vendors.

Nov 7 – Christmas in the Shed (Bridgewater)

Local crafter Lisa Croft-Zinck has switched things up this year. Unable to attend her normal Christmas Markets she has decided to fill up her shed! Christmas in The Shed Handmade Primitve Decor & More. Come see what she has to offer, shop locally, support handmade, buy some handmade gifts for xmas presents made with a lot of love. Nov 7 & 8 – The Great Mahone Bay Sale Event (Mahone Bay)

Seven of your favourite stores in Mahone Bay, including Amos Pewter, The Teazer and Suttles & Seawinds, are kicking off holiday shopping with the Great Mahone Bay Sale Event. What a great way to spend some of your weekend, grab some gifts or maybe a treat for yourself.

The Bluenose II and Pride of Baltimore II invite you to a special episode of Coffee with the Captain, featuring Captain Phil Watson of the Bluenose II. Join in at 10am this Saturday on the Pride Of Baltimore’s Facebook Page , sounds like a great way to start the day.

Nov 7 – Irish Stick Fighting (LaHave)

Medieval Swordplay Canada hosts Irish Stick Fighting workshop this weekend from 5-6:30pm. Includes learning about Irish Martial Arts, Sword, Staff, Bare Knuckle. This class is for new members, must be 18yo+. Cost is $20/person prepay via e-transfer to medievalswordplaycanada@gmail.com Registration is nonrefundable as it holds your spot. Spaces limited. Nov 7 – Longsword Training (LaHave)

Medieval Swordplay Canada is also hosting a Italian Medieaval Longsword Training workshop this weekend, 7-8:30pm. This class is open to beginners, must be 18+Registration in advance holds your spot and is nonrefundable. Spaces limited. Training Swords provided. Nov 7 – South Shore Flea Market (Lunenburg)

The South Shore’s best Flea Market is being held this Saturday from 9am to Noon at the Lunenburg Community Centre. Masks and social distancing are required. Admission is $1. Proceeds to support the Rotary Club of Lunenburg community projects.

Nov 7 – Norma MacDonald live at The Cellar (Liverpool)

Route 3 Cellar Taproom & Grill is pleased to present Norma MacDonald live this Saturday at 9pm. Tables must be reserved in groups of 4/8 or 10.

Nov 8 – Liverpool Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary Annual Christmas Craft Sale (Liverpool)

Liverpool Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary is hosting their annual Christmas Craft Sale this weekend. Visit them this Sunday between 10am-2pm and start some holiday shopping. Admission is $2 pp. Masks are required and socially distancing practiced.

Nov 8 – Country Music Show (New Germany)

There is a Country Music Show this Sunday at the North River Community Centre in New Germany at 1:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Valley Blue, Kentucky Blue, The Bollivars and Bonded Connection. For more information, call 902-644-2612.

Nov 8 – Bahama Mama Pop Up Event (Mahone Bay)

Join Chef Bobbi of 242 Bahama Mama for a Bahamian dinner party at The Biscuit Eater Cafe on Sunday from 5-8pm. Eat in or take out available, tickets are limited and sure to sell out quick so be sure to RSVP by pre-purchasing your tickets online here or stop in to see us at the cafe! $45 per person
