This weekend marks the 100th Anniversary of the launching of the Bluenose, which is amazing! The Bluenose is an incredible symbol of Canada, recognized all around the world, built and launched right here on the South Shore in Lunenburg . There are some virtual celebrations happening, but why not pack up the kids for a day trip to see where it all happened. What’s Happening on Friday March 26th, 2021
Mar 26 – Bluenose 100 Virtual Celebrations
The Bluenose 100 Committee is excited to share its plans for a Virtual Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Launching Bluenose. This first virtual event is scheduled to take place at 10am on Friday, the exact time Bluenose was launched. It will feature exciting new videos, stories, historical footage and interviews explaining the vessel’s place in Canadian history. A second virtual event is planned for 7pm that evening and will see Bluenose’s story further explored through musicians, performers and writers. Mar 26 – Bluenose 100 Launch Celebration- Live Stream Viewing Brunch (Lunenburg)
The Grand Banker Bar & Grill is hosting a special Bluenose 100 Launch Celebration this Friday starting at 9am. Enjoy a delicious Brunch and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the launch of the Bluenose watching the live streamed event from the Bluenose 100 Committee . BIPOCSS Youth Cafe is a drop in for Black, Indigenous, People of Colour & Queer/2SLGBTQ+ youth 14 and up at The Biscuit Eater Cafe & Books in Mahone Bay! This Friday, we have a special guest Deirdre Lee joining us to share some of her poetry, talk about poeming & writing poems of our own. All the bunnies can be seen from the trail, your mission is to find a minimum of 5 bunnies and either take a selfie with each OR identify what each bunny is holding. Easter is just around the corner and the Lunenburg Recreation Department have set up an Easter Rock Hunt just for you! Hunt for painted rocks throughout some of our parks and trails, each rock has a secret code word on the back. For every 10 codes you find, you will receive 1 entry into our random prize draws! Send your code words and/or photos to recreation@modl.ca to be entered! Please DO NOT REMOVE the rocks from their locations so everyone has a chance to play!
