We cannot begin to express how excited we are to bring this post back! It has been incredible to watch the South Shore, and all of Nova Scotia work together to get to a point where we can be “Open for Business” and invite people to #ReDiscoverNovaScotia! Slowly but surely music is coming back to our venues, organized outdoors activities are happening, museums are opening and more. Let’s have a look at What’s Happening on the South Shore this Weekend.
South Shore Museums & Art Galleries
Bridgewater’s DesBrisay Museum is open once again to visitors. They will be open Monday to Friday, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Museum staff have implemented COVID-compliant safe practices, including adding directional arrows, plexiglass barriers, and a hand sanitizer station in our foyer for all guests to use. Provincial group and social distancing restrictions apply.
Nova Scotia Museum are slowly opening up their sites, with 14 museums welcoming visitors starting July 1st. Included in this first phase of openings are the Barrington Woolen Mill and the Ross-Thomson House. Please click the links for each museum to see hours and any COVID-19 safe practises.
The Lunenburg Art Gallery is re-opening July 3rd, with a with a two-month members showcase (and safety protocols in place). Gallery hours Thursday-Sunday noon till 5.
South Shore U-Picks
What better way to spend a weekend then picking delicious, local strawberries and haskap berries?
Indian Garden Farms opened up their strawberry u-pick on July 1st. Check their facebook page for updates on times etc.
Loré Farms strawberry u-pick in Shelburne is open daily 8am-4pm. If would like to go at a later time call ahead (902) 875-2102.
South Shore Farms is prepping to open their Haskap U-Pick July 1st. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates on dates and times. This year they will also have other produce for sale, all grown right on site. Yum!
Sandra’s Choice Lunenburg also has a Haskap U-Pick open. Running Sat & Sun 10-5 at 12648 Highway 3 Rhodes Corner, in between Lunenburg & Bridgewater. Please check her Facebook page for updates on dates and times.

July 3 – Gypsy Minstrels at Firkenstein (Bridgewater)
The Firkenstein Brewing invites you to enjoy the far out sounds of the 60’s & 70’s as the welcome back the Gypsy Minstrels this Friday. Music starts at 8pm. Lots of room for social distancing.
July 3 – Finest Fridays at Boxing Rock Brewing Company (Shelburne)
Head to the Boxing Rock Brewing Company‘s deck for Finest Fridays featuring live local music from 6-7:30pm, the taproom is open until 9pm.
July 3 – The Nice Guys at Bayport Pub (Riverport)

July 3 – Irish Sessions at Lane’s Privateer Inn (Liverpool)
Irish Sessions are back at Lane’s Privateer Inn! Join us for an evening of toe tapping traditional Irish music performed in the “session” format round the table. July 4 – Pride on the Farm (Mahone Bay)
The Little Silly Goose Therapeutic Farm invites you to celebrate Pride on the Farm. Come spend time on the farm with the animals! Piggies, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, rabbits, chickens and more are waiting for you to enjoy. Please book your appointment using the “Booking” button on their FaceBook page and don’t miss out on all the rainbow fun! 1 hour booking times from 10am-6pm both July 4th/5th. Groups: max 10 guests at a time – $20/family (2 adults 2 children) – Under three is free -$5/extra guest over the age of 3. 10% of all proceeds are donated directly to Lunenburg Pride (Lunenburg Co.)
July 4 – Paddle Canada SUP Courses (LaHave)
Join Cape LaHave Adventures July 4th and learn how to standup paddleboard (SUP) or take your SUP skills to the next level! All of our SUP courses are taught by our certified Paddle Canada Instructors, with ratios of 1 instructor: 6 students. There are two sessions “SUP Essentials” for beginners and “SUP Flatwater Advanced” For times and registration click here. Come social distance on the water with us and learn new skills!
July 4 – Andrew Frelick at King Street Beer Co. (Bridgewater)
Andrew Frelick will be performing for King Street Beer Company guests from 8pm-10pm Saturday July 4th. Stop by as Andrew puts on a rare solo acoustic show, singing popular cover songs as well as music from his 3 current EP’s.
July 4 – South Shore Drive In Opening Night! (Mill Village)
The new South Shore Drive In is having it’s opening night this Saturday, July 4th! Keeping the nostalgia of drive-in theatres in mind, their first presentation is “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes“! Find them set up at the Mill Village Fire Department, parking opens at 9pm, movie starts at 10pm, $10 per car or truck!
What’s Happening Sunday July 5th
July 5 – All Levels Vinyasa Yoga (Bridgewater)
Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures building on throughout the summer. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. July 5 – Introduction to Sea Kayaking (LaHave)
Cape LaHave Adventures is offering Introduction to Sea Kayaking this Sunday. This day-long beginner course covers basic sea kayaking skills, including assisted rescues and safety considerations for paddling along calm shorelines. Begin your adventures in Nova Scotia sea kayaking here! No experience required! Registration is required. July 5 – Bend & Brews All Levels Hatha Yoga (Shelburne)
Boxing Rock Brewing Company and earthMonkey Yoga are hosting Bend & Brews Yoga this Sunday at 10am. Vinyasa and Hatha yoga is often described as a moving meditation, but also a fitness based practice. This session includes 60 minutes of yoga followed by a light breakfast and beverage of your choice. Please register in advance by calling the taproom at 902-875-2282 since numbers are limited to 8 people. Cost: $25+tax
July 5 – Junior Scramble at River Hills Golf & Country Club (Port Clyde)
River Hills Golf & Country Club is hosting a Junior Scramble this Sunday. This event is for youths 18 and Under. It is $10 a team, you can register at the pro shop or call (902) 637-2415. They will help pair you up if you do not have partner.
July 5 – Celtic Sessions at Saltbox Brewery (Mahone Bay)
Celtic Sessions are back at the Saltbox Brewery. From 2-4 join Buchanans House of Music for a lovely Celtic music filled afternoon on the patio!
