Feb 21 – Songs of the Sea (Barrington)
The Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl Celebrations continue with Songs of the Sea this Friday at Salty Shores Inn & Cafe. Head down for an evening of music by artist Jimmy Moy in a cafe setting. Tickets are $15 each and include a beverage and plate of fresh baked sweets!. Tickets can be purchased at Salty Shores Cafe.
Feb 21 – Cheers to Lobster (Chester)
Join Oak Island Resort at Tanner & Co Brewing in Chester for Cheers to Lobster, a six course lobster filled dinner designed by their Chef Nathan Guggenheimer. Each course is perfectly paired with delicious wines by local sommelier and brewmaster, Dan Tanner. Enjoy in the cozy surroundings of Tanner & Co, mingling with both the chef and sommelier to chat about where they drew inspiration. Tickets are $75 pp. Limited seating available book yours today.
Feb 21 – “Just Mercy” at the Astor Theatre (Liverpool)
The Astor Theatre presents “Just Mercy” this weekend. A powerful and thought-provoking true-story, “Just Mercy” follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan might have had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned. Tickets are $8 for matinee and $10 for evening showings, available at the door.
Feb 21 – Inside Story at FirkinStein Brewing Co. (Bridgewater)
After “debuting” at a past FirkinStein Open Mic, Inside Story are playing their first live gig this Friday! Live and loud at Firk, come out and support local music and local craft breweries!! Music starts at 8pm.
Feb 21 – Open Mic Night at Art Happening Bridgewater (Bridgewater)
Art Happening Bridgewater is hosting it’s monthly Open Mic Night this Friday from 7-9pm. There were some old favourites and brand new performers last month, and are looking forward to another great night. Art Happening thrives on donations so feel free to toss some change in the vase on your way through the door. Coffee, tea, and gluten-free date squares provided.
Feb 21 – “Black Mother, Black Daughter” screening Black Loyalist Heritage Centre (Shelburne)
Join the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre for a free screening to celebrate African Heritage Month. “Black Mother Black Daughter” explores the lives and experiences of black women in Nova Scotia, their contributions to the home, the church and the community and the strengths they pass on to their daughters. The movie starts at 6:30pm. This free screening is made possible by the National Film Board of Canada.
Feb 21 – Karaoke Night at King Street Brew Co. (Bridgewater)
Get ready to step into the spotlight as Friday Night Karaoke is back at King Street Beer Co. Get your singing voices warmed up, bring your pals and come sing your favourite song. The fun starts at 8pm with DJ Wade Knickle – The Engine Room

Feb 22 – Set Your Intention for 2020 Vision Board Workshop (Bridgewater)
ReleaseRocks and The Salt Spa & Wellness Centre are teaming up for a Vision Board Workshop this Saturday 9am-1pm. Vision boards are the ultimate way to get connected and allow yourself to bring to the surface what is deep within us. Cost is $45 pp, some materials provided. There is limited space for this event. Feb 22 – Curling Day in Canada (Barrington)
Join the Barrington Curling Club for Curling Day in Canada this Saturday from 10am-10pm. Play in one or as many games as you want. New curlers welcome! See full event for playing times and how to sign up! The kitchen will have an assortment of soups for $5 per bowl, while supplies last. And the bar will be open, too. This event is not just for curlers, come out for some great viewing and socializing.
Feb 22 – Bluenose Academy Mardi Gras (Lunenburg)
The Bluenose Academy is holding it’s annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser this Saturday 11am-2pm. There will be games, face painting, a silent auction, massive inflatables, a cake walk, cotton candy, sno-cones, book fair, sale tables, prizes, canteen and much more. Sounds like a fun time for all!
Feb 22 – Rug Braiding Demonstration (Bridgewater)
The DesBrisay Museum invites your to a Rug Braiding Demonstration this Saturday at 2pm. Watch Susie Vienneau from The Ark demonstrate the art of rug braiding. Susie Vienneau has a way of combining colours that is very unique to her and her Mi’kmaq heritage. This event is free, donations appreciated.
Feb 22 – Lobster Crawl at the Fisheries Museum (Lunenburg)
Oh Buoy! Want to know what’s new & old in lobstering? Stop by the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and learn all about the lobster fishery and even try your hand painting a buoy! Admission is $5 per person. From 2pm on you have the chance to paint a lobster buoy. Please note space is limited for the painting event and a $5 additional fee applies.
Feb 22 – Lobster Supper Fundraiser (Chester)
The Park – District of Chester’s Recreational Centre is hosting a fundraiser Lobster Supper this Saturday. Lobster supper includes a 1-1/4 lbs lobster, salads, desserts & beverages. First seating is 2-4pm and then 5-7pm. Tickets $30 available at these locations: Chester NAPA, Chandler Davis, Pharmasave in Chester, Hubbards and Chester Basin. A big part of what’s happening on the South Shore this weekend.
Feb 22 – The GameChangers at The Knot (Lunenburg)
The Knot Pub is pleased to welcome the GameChangers back this Saturday 9pm-12am. Like to dance? GameChangers is South Shore’s newest groovin’ blues band. GameChangers play a mix of Groove-Blues that is judiciously obscure, yet captivatingly familiar.
Feb 22 – Fluid Paint Night (Shelburne)
Catlin Perry Visuals and Fine Arts is hosting a Fluid Paint Night at the Jordan Falls Fire Department this Saturday 6:30-9:30pm. Caitlin will be introducing Silicone Oils, Pouring Mediums and hopefully the use of a heat gun to this class so that you can achieve different types of imagery including celling. Feb 23 – Yoga & Essential Oils (Mahone Bay)
Anastasia Akasha Kaur Yoga & Wellness and Kitch’inn are teaming up to present a Yoga & Essential Oils session this Sunday 11:30am-1:30pm. In this very special “all levels” yoga class we will be combining the power of Yoga as well as Young Living essential oils to help you release unnecessary stress and anxiety. The Yoga class will run for 1 hour followed by an Introduction to Young Living Essential Oils class. $20 Please pre-register.
Feb 23 – Anti-inflammatory Eating Session (Liverpool)
Hayley Ewing, Registered Dietitian is hosting an Anti-inflammatory Eating Session at the Atlantic Superstore (Liverpool, Nova Scotia) this Sunday at 1pm. You will leave this session armed with the knowledge of what nutrients have anti-inflammatory properties in the body, which foods contain these nutrients and how to easily incorporate them into your regular diet. We will sample an easy recipe idea! This workshop involves light walking. Cost is $15, spots are limited, visit the customer service desk to sign up and pay.
Feb 23 – South Shore Wedding Expo (Bridgewater)
Are you or someone you know getting married? The South Shore Wedding Expo is happening this weekend to get your planning stared. Taking place this Sunday at the Best Western Plus Bridgewater from 1-4pm, the expo features local vendors, complimentary refreshments, a runway fashion show presented by Annabell’s Fashions, and tons of awesome door prizes! Free admission.
Feb 24 – Snowshoe Adventure (Lunenburg)
Join the District of Lunenburg Recreation for a snowshoe adventure through Indian Path Common. All ages welcome. Bring your own snowshoes or book a pair of their free loaners. If the weather isn’t favourable, join them for a hike! This activity is weather permitting.
Feb 23 – Proteus Saxophone Quartet (Lunenburg)
Musique Royale is delighted to welcome Proteus, an ensemble uniting four saxophonists from across Canada to St. John’s Anglican Church this Sunday at 3pm. Come hear this saxophone quartet perform repertoire of Grieg and Bach, along with works by current composers including Daniel Bellefeuille, Thierry Escaich, and Paul Suchan! Tickets are $25 ($20 advance), Students $10 and are available at Shop on the Corner, online and at the door.
