It’s mid-February, and we are hopeful that spring may be just around the corner. However, we also know how it goes on the South Shore, winter is not done with us yet, so let’s embrace it! There is plenty to do this weekend, both inside and out, to enjoy the snow and colder weather, and yes, there is a chance to put your spring garden planning hat on too. What’s Happening on Friday February 19th, 2021
Feb 19 – Guided Snowshoe/Walk in Birchtown
Join the Municipality of Shelburne Recreation & Parks Department for a Guided Snowshoe/Walk of Birchtown. A part if their Winter Walks series, this walk is on the trail from Birchtown to Boulder Cove Friday starting at 10am. This walk will be a 4.5km snowshoe. All equipment will be provided and it’s free! A tour guide from the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre will also be joining us for a portion of the snowshoe. Feb 19 – Public Skates at the LCLC (Lunenburg)
Looking to get in some exercise this weekend? Pack up your partner, your kids, heck even your parents and lace on a pair of skates at the LCLC in Bridgewater. What a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Check out their website for COVID Protocols.

Feb 20 – 15th Annual Seedy Saturday (Bridgewater)
Helping Nature Heal Inc. is hosting their 15th Annual Seedy Saturday, this weekend at the DesBrisay Museum. This is the place to be for all your seed and gardening needs and information for the 2021 growing year! Keep in mind most vendors are cash only. Vendors include Annapolis Seeds, Hope Seeds, Bear Cove Resources, Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, Yonder Hill Farm, and Helping Nature Heal. Warm cider will be provided. Covid19 regulations will be in place and masks are required, please social distance during this event. Dress for the weather as there may be a line to enter. Medieval Swordplay Canada is hosting a Italian Medieaval Longsword Training workshop this weekend, 3-4:30 pm. Feb 20 – Winter Active Day Trails : Bay to Bay Trail **POSTPONED TO SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21ST**
Celebrate Winter Active Day with Recreation Nova Scotia in partnership with Make Your Move #NSTrails #CommunityHealthBoards of the Northern Zone, and Hike Nova Scotia this Saturday. They will be at six trails, including the Bay to Bay Trail, across Nova Scotia. Come out, say hi, and go for a nice walk, bike ride, or whatever activity you enjoy doing in the winter. The first 10 people who come out to the listed trails will win a cool prize pack. All a part of Take the Roof Off of Winter!

Join the Lunenburg Recreation Department as they continue with their Snowshoe/Hiking Adventures. This Saturday head to the Trails of the MARC, and set out for an approximately 6km scenic hike through the vast trail system. Bring your own snowshoes, or borrow from the MODL. Feb 21 – Sunday Ceilidh at King Street Beer Co. (Bridgewater)
King Street Beer Co. invites you to Sunday Ceilidh. Enjoy local brew with Traditional Celtic music performed by members of South Shore Pipes and Drums Association from 2-4pm. Those attending are to wear masks until seated, and masks must be put back on while moving about, six feet distance is mandatory to protect one another.
