What’s Happening on the South Shore Friday, February 12, 2021
Feb 12 – Radiothon for Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.
Today is the Annual “Gift from The Heart Radiothon” presented by CKBW South Shore Radio & Country 100.7 for the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore. ❤️ Last years event raised over $200,000 to go towards much needed medical equipment. Request to hear your favourite songs on the radio for a donation to this great organization, and let’s see if we can beat last years total!
Feb 12 – Ross Farm Museum Reopened (New Ross)
Ross Farm Museum is pleased to announce their re-opening as of February 10th. Following the weather forecast, they will offer sleigh or wagon rides, snowshoeing, and coasting on the hill! They will have hot chocolate for you at the cottage with an interpreter to talk with you about living at Ross Farm in the 19th century. Check their website for updates on Thursday each week. Online booking is still required to ensure that your visit is confirmed! They are currently accepting 25 people in the morning 9:30-12:00 time slot and 25 people in the afternoon 2:00-4:30 time slot. Please see their website for all COVID protocols in place.
Feb 12 – Love Trail – Sherose Island Nature Trail (Barrington)
The Barrington Municipal Recreation Department has been playing cupid and invites you to enjoy the Love Trail. Enjoy a romantic winter picnic and stroll with your valentine or a magical walk with the whole family. Portions of the Sherose Island Trail will be lit from February 12-15 with a few picnic spots with additional lighting. Please respect the trail and other users (including the deer!), take out any trash and leave the trail the way you found it. Flashlights are recommended.
Feb 12 – Tea & Textiles at Our Health Centre (Chester)
Our Health Centre in Chester invites you to Textiles and Tea this Friday from 3-4:30pm in the OHC Community Room. Textiles & Tea happens every other Friday. Group members do many different types of work including rug hooking, felting, knitting, weaving, cross stitch. “We need to keep our brains healthy, get out and be social, meet new people, make new connections. Textiles and Tea fills those needs because it’s about learning, being creative, using our hands.” Everyone works on their own projects and shares what they know with others in the group. 10 people maximum and its FREE . Feb 12 – Public Skates at the LCLC (Bridgewater)
How about a romantic skate with your sweetheart? Or special family outing this weekend? Pack up your partner, your kids, heck even your parents and lace on a pair of skates at the LCLC in Bridgewater. What a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Check out their website for COVID Protocols.

Feb 13 – Winter Survival & Shelter Building at the MARC (Dayspring)
Lunenburg Rec is offering a Winter Survival & Shelter Building workshop, this Saturday at the MARC. Join them from 1-4pm and learn the basics of surviving, staying warm and cozy outdoors while building a simple shelter using materials that can mainly be found in nature. Dress for the weather, bring warm gives or mittens to work in. This is a free program, though donations to PROKids are welcome.
Feb 13 – DIY Art & Valentine’s Card Making Workshops at Thomas Raddall Library (Liverpool)
Region of Queens Recreation invites you to DIY Art Workshop & Valentine’s Card Making activity this Saturday at the Thomas Raddall Library. Join them from 1-3pm, be creative with paint, clay and drawing, or make a Valentine for that special someone. This is a self-led activity – they provide the supplies you provide the creative imagination! All ages, drop in.
Feb 13 – Take the Roof Off Winter (Dayspring)
Take the Roof Off Winter activities continue at the MARC this Saturday. Head over between 10am-3pm, borrow skis or snowshoes for the day, grab a sled and slide down the hills, build an ice sculpture, play games, warm up by the campfire, and more! There is so much winter fun to be had. It’s FREE!! Please note: the ponds at the MARC are not open for skating at this time. The ice is not at a safe depth for users.
Feb 13 – Free Public Skates at LCLC (Bridgewater)
Help celebrate Bridgewater’s 122nd Birthday with FREE Skates at the LCLC. Head over to the LCLC Saturday, February 13, for one of two public skates, with sessions running at 4:30 – 5:20 p.m. and 5:30 – 6:20 p.m. Please note that COVID-19 regulations will apply. A maximum of 60 participants will be permitted at each skating session. Thanks in advance for your understanding

Feb 14 – Heather Armstrong live at King Street Beer Co. (Bridgewater)

Feb 15 – Get Active with Winteractive Equipment Loan Program (Bridgewater)
The Town of Bridgewater is making it easy for you to get Winteractive with their Winter Equipment Loan Program. Borrow snowshoes, Nordic Walking Poles, sleds & crazy carpets and even snow brick makers! Equipment can be booked by calling the Rec Department at (902) 534-2274 or make a requet via e-mail. Equipment can be loaned for up to 4 days. A $30 cash/cheque deposit is required up on pickup of snowshoes, to be refunded upon safe return.
Feb 15 – Free Family Skate (Barrington)
Barrington and Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Free Family Skate this Monday from 6-7:30pm at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena. Pre-registration is required, sign up here.
Feb 15 – Wizards of Winter Family Fun Hike (Barrington)
The Barrington Municipal Recreation Department is at it again! Join them for a Wizards of Winter Family Fun Hike, this Monday. Abracadabra!! Put on the sorting hat and if it’s cold, keep it on, while you explore the magical forest.(Sherose Island Nature Trail) You will hike approximately 2k while doing a few family friendly activities along the way. Great for families. The trail may be difficult for some strollers, depending on the model. Please dress for the weather. Please register in advance.
