We are making our way through August and it has been a hot one! If the weather man is right, this weekend will be no different. Great weather for learning to kayak and going on bird walks, but also perfect for hitting a patio for some music, catching a movie under the stars or stepping inside a gallery, a book signing or a new sports bar to cool down. Aug 7 – “Out on the Water” Polly Balser Exhibit Amicus Art Gallery (Chester)
Amicus Gallery invites you to a new art exhibit by Canadian artist Poppy Balser entitled “Out on the Water“. This exhibit will open August 6th till August 20th. Poppy Balser is a recipient of numerous international awards and we are very excited to present her show. Open everyday from 11-4.
Aug 7 – Lunenburg Folk Harbour Mini Festival (Lunenburg)
The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival may have been cancelled for 2020, but the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society have found a way to bring you live music this summer! This weekend, Friday to Sunday starting at 2pm, join them on the Bandstand for their free Mini Festival with three Nova Scotian acts: Friday, August 7: Terra Spencer, Saturday, August 8: Pretty Archie and Sunday, August 9: Cassie & Maggie. A great way to celebrate what would have been Folk HarbourFest Weekend.
Aug 7 – Alex Whitty live at Mulligan’s Sports Bar (Bridgewater)
Did you know that there is a new sports bar in Bridgewater. Mulligan’s Sports Bar had it’s soft opening a couple of weeks ago, and now they invite you to enjoy the music of Alex Whitty this Friday from 8-10pm. A great reason to check it out.
Aug 7 – Outdoor Movie Night (Shelburne)
Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks is hosting another Outdoor Movie Night this Friday. Featuring the animated Spider Man film “Into the Spider-verse” this would be a great way to kick off the weekend. Movie starts around 8:45pm at Shelburne Regional High School.Bring your blankets, chairs, snacks and bug spray!
Aug 7 – Bucket List live at FirkinStein Brewing Inc.(Bridgewater)
It’s Firkin Friday! with Bucket List live at FirkinStein Brewing. Join the band for some great tunes, cold drinks and enjoy the start to your weekend. Music starts at 8pm, COVID-19 regulations in place.

Aug 8 – All Levels Hatha Flow Yoga (New Germany)
Join Yoga with Lisa Saturdays for All Levels Hatha Flow Yoga classes. This is an outdoor class overlooking the LaHave River with plenty of space and shade.The class is designed for someone new to yoga or someone with yoga experience. Aug 8 – Basic Kayak Skills & Safety Course (Shelburne)
Candlebox Kayaking is offer a Basic Kayaking Skills and Safety course this Saturday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. Gain the confidence and skills you need to kayak sheltered waters with others in this fun, safe, structured clinic! From discussing a kayak’s safety features to successfully getting in, launching, and landing, the basics of kayaking will be demystified. Learn how to get a friend back into their kayak in the event of an on water capsize, and much more. The cost is $125 +tax per person, click here to register.
Aug 8 – Community Yard Sale at Fort Point Museum (La Have)
Fort Point Museum is hosting a Community Yard Sale this Saturday from 10am-2pm. Event will be held on the grounds or inside the Community Room if raining. Please note we will have many precautions put in place to ensure this event is compliant with all current COVID regulations.

Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks has organized a Bird Identification Walk, this Saturday at 2pm with Shawn Feener. Take a stroll along the Jordan River Trail and learn some fun nature facts and identify some native birds.
Aug 8 – Sounds of Summer Showcase (Barrington)
Come and join Barrington Municipal Recreation Department at the Sherose Island Ball field this Saturday at 7 PM for our Sounds of Summer Showcase. This event will be live and in person and will follow all Public Health Guidelines to ensure your safety. All attendees will be encouraged to wear a mask onsite. Aug 8 – South Shore Drive In presents “Twister” (Mill Village)
South Shore’s Drive-In movie this Saturday is “Twister “. Bill and Jo Harding, advanced storm chasers on the brink of divorce, must join together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes. Show time is at dusk, with parking opening at 9 pm. Aug 8 – Andre Pettipas & the Giants live at FirkenStein Brewing (Bridgewater)
FirkinStein Brewing Co. are excited to have Grease Coast Rock’n’Rollers Andre Pettipas & the Giants back this Saturday at 8pm for a socially distanced show. This show will have a limited capacity of 50 people. Advanced tickets are available $15 or try your luck night of at the door for $20.
Aug 8 – Scott Colp live at Saltbox Brewery (Mahone Bay)
Scott Colp will be joining Saltbox Brewery Saturday from 7-9pm. Scott plays a mixture of original tunes and covers of Tom Petty, The Beatles and more. Come on out and listen to some fantastic tunes and have a beer on the patio. Why not skip the dishes and grab some Curry Express for dinner who will be on site 12pm-8pm.

Aug 9 – All Levels Vinyasa Yoga (Bridgewater)
Yoga with Katherine presents an All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Class held in an outdoor setting. Moving with our breath, we will build heat in the body with sun salutations and explore classic hatha yoga postures building on throughout the summer. You must register and pay for class ahead of time to hold your spot. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a 5 class pass for $45! Payments for classes must be sent through EMT. Lockeport Recreation invites you to an Outdoor Country Concert this Sunday from 2-4pm. Always a hit in Lockeport, David Burbine & Traditional Country will take to the big stage to give us Sunday afternoon entertainment. No admission fee, just sign in at the gate (donations welcome).
Aug 9 – Wild Blueberry U-Pick (Clyde River)
This Wild Blueberry U-Pick is located 1 km north off Hwy 103 on the Upper Clyde Road, in Clyde River. Open daily 9-4 pm, weather permitting, and open all holiday weekend. Check their facebook page for daily updates, field conditions and COVID-19 protocol including social distancing. Blueberries are only $2./ lb. Please bring your own containers. The Municipality of Chester is please to continue the Chester Bandstand Summer Concert Series Sunday evenings in the Seaside Village of Chester. Featuring wonderful local musicians, grab your lawn chair, blanket, snacks and bug spray and enjoy an evening by the sea.

This is the greatest time of the year to visit your local Farmers Market. The tables are just exploding with local produce and flowers. A great way to spend part of your weekend and support local.
