Aug 23 – Art, Chi & Me
Loving Spirit invites you to awaken your vital life-force energy (Chi) then create an art piece. Art, Chi & Me encourages you to feel the flow of life & let this translate into your creative expression. A mixture of gentle Chi Kung Movements utilizing nature, mindfulness & meditation as inspiration for your art piece. The event runs from 10am – 12pm and Registration costs $25, this includes art supplies and refreshments at Corkscrew Cottage!
Aug 23 – Emotional Support Pet Workshop
Pawsperity Pet Wellness will be offering an Emotional Support Animal Workshop at 6pm, at the Western Shore & District Fire Department. Learn the benefits animals provide us for mental health and well being at every age. We will go over bonding techniques, and ways to utilize our animal companions as a way of meditation and calmness. Parent/child teams more then welcome. This hour long workshop is $10 at the door.
Aug 23 – St. Mark’s Kitchen Party with Hank Middleton
St. Marks Place is hosting a Kitchen Party with host Hank Middleton. Hank is an prolific songwriter and musician who hails from Cape Breton but has made the South Shore home for 45 years. His love of the east coast, its people and its history is strongly reflected in his music. Party start at 7:30pm, tickets: $20.00 at the door. Aug 23 – Opry Gold at the Chester Playhouse
The Chester Playhouse Theatre presents Opry Gold! To share the Opry’s history is to share the story of Country Music. Leisa Way and her phenomenally talented Wayward Wind Band have brought audiences many great shows, and this latest concert raises the roof with the hottest country songs from the last few decades. Show starts at 7:30pm, tickets range from $15 – $35.
Aug 23 – Weather Advisory live at Saltbox Brewery
Head on down to Saltbox Brewery from 7pm-9pm as Weather Advisory set to entertain. Weather Advisory is a three piece band from Lunenburg County. Known for their Smokey Blues James to Electric Boogie Riffs, they add their own energetic style to the cover songs they play.

Aug 24 – Sale-ing Around the Mersey River
Organized by Queens Universally designed play park and Milton Community Association this Saturday there will be a Community Wide Yard Sale in and around Milton. Neighbourhood households are participating as well as sale tables at the Milton Hall. This is a partnership with Milton Community Association to raise funds for the Play Park . There will be a bake good table at Milton Hall as well as a BBQ and or Canteen .
Aug 24 – Greenfield Drag Races – Bracket Bash
Head to the Greenfield Dragway and catch the 16th Annual Greenfield Dragway Bracket Bash which includes Top Sportsman/Top Dragster, Stock/Superstock Series & Junior Dragster Shootout! This annual event continues to draw each year with 162 entries in 2018. A fun day out for the whole family!
Aug 24 – Canadian Axe Throwing Campionships
Liverpool Welcomes hosts the 2nd Annual Canadian Axe Throwing Championships. This is a championship level double-bit axe throwing tournament taking place over 2 days. Register to compete or head down to watch the action and cheer on the Nova Scotia Lumberjacks team!
Aug 24 – Lighthouse Paddle – Cape Sable Island
Commited 2 the Core Sea Kayak Coaching hosts it’s monthly Lighthouse Paddle for August at Cape Sable Island. Providing an opportunity to get like-minded paddlers together for a great day on the water, while enjoying the beauty of Nova Scotia. Paddling with a Team Core member, head and have a fun-filled day on the water. The opportunity for micro-coaching sessions along the way is an option but not a requirement.
Aug 24 – Debris Diving & Beach Cleanup (Bachmans Beach)
Join Coastal Action and Torpedo Rays Scuba Adventures on Saturday, August 24th at Bachman’s Beach for Debris Diving and Shoreline Cleanup with a BBQ potluck & beach activities to follow. Beachgoers can arrive at 11am, potluck beginning at 12:30pm. Hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, buns, condiments, & refreshments will be provided – please bring sides, beverages or deserts. This is a low-waste event! Please bring your own jar/cup/water bottle for drinks. This event is all ages. RSVP required for anyone interested in diving or snorkeling. RSVP here
Aug 24 – Coveside Classic Horse Show
Coveside Stables hosts the 11th annual Coveside Classic Hunter-Jumper Competition. Featuring five days of great competition in a friendly atmosphere, the Classic is the largest equestrian competition in the Atlantic provinces, and is the highlight of the competition season.
Aug 24 – Summer Reading Wrap Up Celebration
South Shore Public Libraries are celebrating 1 Million Minutes Read!
Help celebrate the amazing efforts of all the Summer Reading Club members at a summer reading wrap up party this Saturday. Drop in and enjoy! There will be snacks, crafts and lots of fun! Bridgewater and Lunenburg Libraries 2-4pm, Liverpool, Greenfield and Mobile Libraries 10-12.
Aug 24 – Lunenburg At Society Art Caravan – Wiles Lake Farm Market
Wiles Lake Farm Market hosts a LAS Art Caravan pop-up exhibit and sale featuring artists from the Lunenburg Art Society from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The mandate of LAS has been to present art to Lunenburg and surrounding area, but it has not focused on taking art to the rural areas of the municipality until now. Come for lunch, browse the exhibit, meet the artists and enjoy some jazz music during the last hour.
Aug 24 – Hair of the Dog “Pretty Pooch Contest”
King Street Brew Co. and Natural Hound’s Spa & Boutique are teaming up! Come by King Street Brew Co. with your four legged friend to possibly win a gift basket that contains something for your pooch and you! Jessica Banks, Owner of Natural Hound’s Spa & Boutique, will be onsite from 3-5pm and will be the judge of the Pretty Pooch Contest.
Aug 24 – Have a Yarn Semi Annual Fashion Show
Have a Yarn is reviving their Semi-Annual Fashion Show! Come show off your knits as you celebrate those finished products. Be prepared to tell us which yarn and pattern you used and how you enjoyed knitting it. Don’t have anything to show? Come anyway and get inspired between 7pm-9 pm.

Aug 25 – Gaff Point Hike and Stretch 2.0
Due to popular demand, Shaelyn Elliott RMT is bringing back the Gaff Point Hike + Stretch for August. Hike begins at approximately 10:00am, hiking up to the top of the ‘Clif.’ with a 45-minute stretch class at the big grassy, open area overlooking the ocean. There is no cost to participate in this event, however, donations will be accepted. All donations will go towards improving the business. – Continuing Education, workshop materials, guest speakers, transportation/travel, etc.
Aug 25 – Strength & Stout Pilates with Michelle
Join RMT and Pilates instructor Michelle, for Strength & Stout, a 45 minute Pilates mat class on the patio, followed by a draught of your choice. Sculpt and tone your upper body and core. Be sure to bring a yoga or Pilates mat! Class is 20$ and spots are limited, so reserve yours here. Drop-ins are welcome, if space is available, credit or cash on site.
Aug 25 – Debrisay Art Market
The Debrisay Art Market launches this Sunday, and every Sunday, 12 pm – 4pm until October 27th. A community art market, with artisan’s selling their own artwork, live music, with coffee and sweet treats for sale. This community market will be fun for everyone.
Aug 25 – Music at the Three Churches Final Concert
After 23 seasons, Music at Three Churches will present its final concert of classical music Sunday at 3pm in St. John’s Lutheran Church, with special guests, Rhapsody Quintet. Tickets are $25, $10 for students and free for children twelve and under. Aug 25 – A Night of Classic Rock with Honeymoon Suite
