It looks like it is shaping up to be a typical Nova Scotia Spring weekend weather wise, a little this and a little that. The South Shore has all kinds of activities to help you enjoy your days off. Guided hikes, skating and swimming, lots of live music, markets, penny auctions, take-out suppers and even the chance to learn how to use a compass! Apr 23 – Jordan River Trail Guided Walk (Shelburne)
The Municipality of Shelburne Recreation Department invites you out for a guided walk along the Jordan River Trail. Join them this Friday at 9:30am for the 5km return trip Must pre-register for either walk by contacting Shelburne Municipal Recreation & Parks, 902-875-3544 ext 229 or email them.
Apr 23 – South Shore Elementary School Art Exhibit (Bridgewater)
The DesBrisay Museum and South Shore Elementary Schools present the Artwork by the Children of the South Shore of Nova Scotia. This Friday is your last chance to head over and celebrate all the young artists! The exhibit will be on display from April 6 to April 23. The museum is open Mon-Fri 12pm-4pm.
Apr 23 – Clickity-Clack Knitting Group (Bridgewater)
Calling all knitters and crocheters, experienced or learning. You are invited to Clickty-Clack Knitting Group this Friday from 10am-12pm at the DesBrisay Museum. Instruction for beginners and socialization for the more experienced knitters. Some supplies are available and lots of patterns for beginners. Join them for a relaxing morning of knitting/crocheting and chatting. $10 for the season.
Apr 23 – Public Skating at Lunenburg Arena (Lunenburg)
This is the last week of the extended skate season at the Lunenburg Arena. Join them Friday and Sunday for Public, Family and Adult skates one last time. $3 for Youth $4 for Adults.
Apr 23 – Public Skating at the LCLC (Bridgewater)
Public and Adult Skates are happening at the LCLC as well this weekend. A great way to get active with the kids and your bubble people. Schedules are subject to change make sure to check the Arena Schedule on their website.
Apr 23 – Saltbox Run Club’s LaHave River Beer Release and Community Run (Bridgewater)
Are you a local runner that loves beer? This event is just for you! Come on out to King Street Beer this Friday at 7pm for a Community Run followed by the Saltbox Run Club’s LaHave River Beer release! Sounds like a fun way to kick off the weekend.
Apr 23 – Danny Acker live at Boxing Rock Brewing (Shelburne)
Boxing Rock Brewing welcomes Danny Acker back to the Taproom this Friday. Head down between 6-7:30pm for great beer, music and way to kick off the weekend.

Apr 24 – Sensory Friendly Skate at the LCLC (Bridgewater)
As a part of celebrating Autism Awareness month, the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg has partnered with the South Shore Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia to host sensory friendly events. Join them this Saturday at the LCLC from 2-2:50 for a Sensory Friendly Skate. Register online or by calling the District of Lunenburg Recreation at 541-1343.
Apr 24 – New Germany Legion Spring Market (New Germany) ** Postponed : New Date TBD **
The New Germany Legion is holding a Spring Market this Saturday. Head over between 10am-3pm and check out local artisans & vendors showcasing their creations and goods. Cash Canteen on site with warm corn chowder made on site, tea, and coffee. All COVID rules and regulations will be followed as per usual. Thanks for supporting local.
Apr 24 – Wireless Station Hike (Barrington)
Join the Barrington Recreation Department for the Wireless Station Hike, this Saturday at 11am. This hike will involves a 10K return hike to the old wireless station in Barrington. The terrain is an easy route consisting of an old road/ ATV trail and is recommended for adults or older youth due to the length of the hike. We will meet where the rail trail crosses the Wireless Road (Near the Temple United Baptist Church). We will hike into the wireless station, have lunch, explore the historic site, and return. We expect to be back by 2:30pm. Bring lots of water, a lunch and dress for the weather with comfy footwear. Please register in advance.
Apr 24 – Geoff Kennedy live at Chester’s Cafe (Chester)
Come out to Chester’s Cafe this Saturday from 5-7pm and have a great night of amazing food, drinks, and songs. Geoff Kennedy brings a unique approach to the solo performer show and instead is nearly a one-person band. With a songbook that reminds you of your favorite playlist, you won’t even notice the time flying by.
Apr 24 – The Bluenose 100 Commemorative Ale Official Release at Saltbox Brewing (Mahone Bay)
The anticipation is over. Come join Saltbox Brewing Co. for the celebration of the release of their Bluenose 100 Commemorative Ale. This tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the launch of the Bluenose, will officially be hitting the Saltbox taproom this Saturday at 6:30pm.

Apr 25 – Introduction to Using a Compass (Dayspring)
The MODL Recreation Department is hosting an Introduction to Using a Compass workshop this Sunday. Join them at the MARC from 1-4pm, and learn some basic compass and map navigation skills. $15 per person (includes a compass!) Pre-registraion is required.
Apr 25 – West Side United Church Ham, Baked Bean and Scalloped Potato Take-Out Supper (Pentz)
West Side United Church is holding Ham, Baked Bean and Scalloped Potato Take-Out Supper this Sunday. $15 per meal, cash or cheque, for a delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings. Pre-Order your tickets by Thursday April 22, or take your chance and call Sunday after Noon to see if there are any meals left. Pick-Up is between 3-5pm. King Street Beer Co. Presents a special trivia fundraiser for the local TNT Women’s Softball Team. Join them this Sunday from 2-4pm. The theme of trivia will be Disney trivia! The LCLC Pool has a number of Recreational Swim Times this weekend, including Sunday from 6-8pm. As well you can check out the new Inflatable Obstacle Course from 3-5pm.
