I read some of the online comments…which you generally should never do…and a lot of people spoke about him being rewarded for stealing. I choose to see this as a compassionate story with a happy ending. Not everyone can understand what it would be like to not have the support, or finances, when you are trying to land a job at 18. I applaud this officer for his judgement in handling this.
Toronto police say that after an officer bought an alleged shoplifter the clothes he was trying to steal for a job interview, the teenager got the job.Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a Walmart in the city’s north end last week, where they found the details of the case to be somewhat unusual.The would-be thief had attempted to steal a long-sleeved shirt, a tie and a pair of socks.
