Sunday mornings I usually grab a cup of coffee and take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. I thought I would share some that caught my eye this week. Join me for a Sunday morning coffee.
See the Good in Everyone
I love this story. Everyone is going through “something”….choose to see the good.
Stina had begun to notice a surfacing problem in Stockholm: high school students who did not fit the typical mould in Sweden were falling through the cracks, dropping out of school—sometimes by choice, sometimes not. Because of the high priority placed on education in Sweden, these students were left with few options and frustrated parents. Stina decided to act and did something almost nobody would ever think to do. She built a wood-oven in her home and (even more significantly) she invited over a number of high school drop-outs to bake bread. Today, 18 months later, she hosts some of society’s most at-risk teenagers in her home 5 days/week where they bake goods for a local cafe.

Bold Blue and White Bedroom REVEAL! {ORC Week 6 – DIY Passion} – DIY Passion
There are a lot of talented bloggers and content creators here in Nova Scotia, quietly going about doing some amazing work. One of those who I followed for years was Erin from DIY Passion. I got to meet Erin as part of our East Coast Mom Media group, of which she officially became a creative director this year. 🙂 Anyway, Erin has a fantastic blog where she does some amazing DIY projects, as well as talks about sparking joy, parenting and finding your happiness. This spring she took part in the 6 week One Room Challenge and just recently had her big reveal of her master bedroom make-over. I can’t stop thinking about it.
I’m not really into design or DIY’s, but after seeing Erin’s finished space I have been fantasizing about re-doing a whole room from top to bottom. Our bedroom needs some desperate attention…and a headboard! Thank you to DIY Passion for the inspiration! There are a lot of pretty pictures in this post, so if that is NOT your thing, you might want to move along. 😉 For the rest of you…grab your sunday morning coffee…and enjoy! 🙂
I honestly cannot express what having this room complete means to our family. Since starting this project, this room has become the place where we all hang out at night before bed, in the morning before officially waking up and on the weekends as we lazily determine what the day will bring. It really is everything we wanted and had hoped for. For the longest time, our master bedroom was not only ugly and dysfunctional, but also evoked terrible memories. Now, all of that is gone. Our room tells a new story! The story of us all working together, rolling with the punches and coming out the other side with something that speaks to us as a family and that resonates with us in all ways.

You Could Live Here!
64 Forest Ridge Drive, Conquerall Mills
Oh my…this house. I happen to know the family who is selling this beautiful home as they prepare to head out on a new adventure. 🙂 But, before they bought this house, my older daughter’s best friend lived there for several years. I drove in and out of that driveway countless time and my family spent time visiting for a barbecue or parties over that time. When the girls were in Grade 9, they sold this house and my daughter’s best friend….and family… moved to the city. I could hardly drive by it after the fact without crying…in fact I’m getting a lump in my throat just writing this…all this to say…I know this house.
This house has everything a family needs. Lots of space, a beautiful kitchen, a pool, garage and a covered porch! So close to town, Fancy Lake, the beaches, etc…homes in this area really have the best of both worlds. I am excited to think of a new family starting out there, as I know it has already been filled with lots of love, family and memories from the 2 previous owners. It’s a beautiful home just waiting for the next beautiful family.
Enter from the covered porch to an open main floor eat-in kitchen, living room arrangement with propane fireplace, separate dining room for more formal family gatherings. Patio doors open from the kitchen to a newly resurfaced expansive back deck and down to the above ground pool with wrap around deck. The unique layout of the upper levels of the home offer a large media room that could also convert to a 4th bedroom, then up to 3 bedrooms including master suite with en-suite and walk in closet. If you’re still after more space for your family, the lower level is fully finished hosting a rec-room with walk out to the backyard, laundry room, utility room and potential 5th bedroom/music room/exercise room. There is so much space inside and out, including the tree house if you just can’t find anywhere else to sleep.
