Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday mornings I usually take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. Thought I would share some that caught my eye this week, maybe you will enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee too.

She Said: Turning Friendly Into Friendship – Pickle Planet Moncton

This post from Jenna at Pickle Planet Moncton really resonated with me. So much of what she said is true, and not just for Moncton, but many areas of the Maritimes. Being friends and not just “friendly” is something to strive for.

But visiting the Greater Moncton Area and moving to it are two very different things. I don’t think we Maritimers are nearly as friendly as we think we are. We make fabulous hosts, but unless you grew up here, we’re not always the best neighbours. In my experience, and many others with whom I’ve had this conversation, we are so used to having friends that we’re not always great at making new ones. That can be daunting to someone trying to make connections in our community and can negatively impact the population growth we so desperately need.

Bedford renovators surprise family with money for accessible van – Nova Scotia – CBC News

Read this story…it will warm your heart and restore your faith in humanity. Quietly putting money aside from each project for 2 years, to help a long-standing employee’s family, All-Craft shows that for some, it’s not always about the profits. This is not a big national company, this a locally owned business. I love this. Great job All-Craft!

Twitter Reddit Google Share Email An Eastern Passage woman with a rare developmental disorder is benefiting from a new accessible van to get around safely, courtesy of a Bedford renovation company. It was a kind act for a family member of one of All-Craft’s employees, which recently won the company an award for “Renovator of the Year” from the provincial Homebuilders Association.

You Could Live Here! 1416 Lower Branch Road, Branch Lahave

OK…yes…this is a project, but for that price even if you invested $50-100 000 into it, it’s still a pretty amazing deal. An 1835 farmhouse sitting on 23 acres, with mature trees and an open pasture, an old apple orchard and vegetable and flower garden! Pass me my Sunday coffee and come sit a spell! Did I mention there’s also an adjourning studio and greenhouse? Oh my…this is a fixer upper, but what potential! This property currently has a has a pending offer…but you never know. 😉

This property is listed with Stephanie DeVries of ViewPoint Realty.

t’s like a place that time forgot. The circa 1835 farmhouse sits on a 23 +/- lot, complete with pond and stream. The lush grounds have enormous trees and open pasture., an old apple orchard and vegetable and flower garden The house has been vacant for several years and water damage has rendered the floors unsafe for entry. The house now has a new roof. Although the house has ” good bones” a prospective buyer would need to invest extensively to save the building. It’s for that reason we did not put any value on the house or the adjoining studio/greenhouse. The property has a dug well and septic system in place. Restore… Rebuild… at this price… opportunity is knocking.
