Sunday mornings I usually take time to catch up on stories I may not have time to read through the week. Thought I would share some that caught my eye this week, maybe you can enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.
Do small things with great love | Simple Bites
This really resonated with me. As someone who does quite often have extra people around the table, how often have I offered a spot at the table to people from different backgrounds and experiences? We can get really comfortable with our friends and family…our own little circle…blocking out the rest of the world. Hospitality, conversation, community, feels like things we could all use a little more of in these uncertain times.
I think we’re all at the point where we can’t go on tiptoeing around current events on the political front, and I’m mostly speaking for myself. Here in Canada we’re affected – no longer a country on the sidelines. We’re feeling the tremors; they’re impossible to ignore.

Student-run health centre will turn to church supper to help find clients
I just realized my two stories this week have a similar theme. This idea is a brilliant one! Students are gaining experience by offering health promotion and education during a free Sunday church supper. There will be a clinic nearby offering low-income and homeless people a chance to access services they may otherwise have not been able to. More than 200 students from medicine, nursing, dentistry, dietetics, occupational therapy, social work, paramedicine, pharmacy and health administration volunteered to participate. Wow! I can’t wait to hear more about this program and how it develops.
Students from Dalhousie University, Mount Saint Vincent University and paramedic college Medavie HealthEd are launching the Halifax Outreach Prevention Education Support (HOPES) health centre.

You Could Live Here! #2858 331 Highway, Pentz, Nova Scotia
There’s just something about a porch to sit on…or a pond to sit by. How about a separate workshop/studio to work in and 3 acres to wander, garden, enjoy? This is the kind of house…for this price…that I think people from the city, or across the country, must marvel at. Four bedrooms, fully finished basement with a wet bar, hardwood floors, fireplace, and did I mention views of the Lahave River? Lots of wood through out gives it that cozy feel, or grab some paint and it could easily be transformed to the ever popular Farmhouse style. You could start your weekends with a short drive to the Lahave Bakery to pick up some homemade bread and coffee. This is South Shore living!
This spacious 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home has plenty to offer. On the main level the large eat in kitchen along with the formal dining room offers lots of space for entertaining. On the second level there are 4 bedrooms, including a large master bedroom with ensuite. The basement area is perfect for that rec room already finished with a wet bar. For storage there is the attached garage and an additional 2 storey workshop / studio out back. For those that like the outdoors the 3 acre plus lot with a pond present many opportunities and when you need a break pull up a chair and relax on the covered deck and enjoy a distant view of the Lahave River. With hardwood floors throughout, fireplace, and priced below assessment, this property is certainly worth a look
