THINKING OUT LOUD WITH SHELDON MacLEOD: Mental health, grief and Portapique one year later
This is a difficult day and weekend for our province as we mark one year since the Portapique tragedy. Sheldon MacLeod had a conversation with Alec Stratford, executive director of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and Serena Lewis, a social worker, who are both advocating for grief literacy.
Free mental health services are also being offered to people who have been affected by the events in Portapique one year ago.
Three Lunenburg/Queens County special athletes could earn spot on Team Canada
Good luck to to Colby Oickle, Michael Moreau and Emily Latta, members of the Special Olympics Lunenburg/Queens branch. They’re scheduled to compete in snowshoeing for Team Canada at the 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia next January, where more than 2,000 athletes from 106 nations are expected to compete in seven sports.
It takes a tremendous amount of dedication to compete at this level and we are so proud of all of you!
