Charting new waters aboard the Nellie Row with all-female crew this lobster season
I love this story…so…so…much. After growing up in a fishing family and starting lobster fishing when she was 27, in 2015 at the age of 50, Gail Atkinson made the transition to owning her own boat and licence.
This season, fishing out of Lunenburg, in a larger boat, painted red, and named the Nellie Row, will be an all-female crew, including Gail’s partner Kath Moore. It’s never too late to live out those dreams…even the ones on the water.
Knitted mice project contributing to ALS research
We chatted about this fundraiser, during a Facebook Live we did this summer with Have a Yarn in Mahone Bay. A project raising funds for ALS research after local resident and knitter was diagnosed. Buy a ticket in support and have a chance to win Dickensian Christmas mice, which includes 14 different knit mice dressed in styles of the Dickens’ era.
