I thought I would switch things up a bit for this Sunday Morning Coffee. This season of my life is busy, and will continue to be so for the next few months. Two kids graduating, finding apartments and prom dresses, scholarship deadlines and part-time jobs, not to mention work commitments and outdoor spring projects….yup…look for me somewhere the first week of July….on my dock…or the beach…with a refreshing, cool beverage…but first we have to get there.

So my Sunday Morning Coffee list this morning is a simple one….what I’m reading, watching and listening to…when I have time. 😉 This is when I need my meal plan more than ever, so stop back tomorrow for Meal Plan Monday. Grocery list plus recipe links if you need some help for this upcoming week.

What I’m Reading: Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham

With the sun shining on my front step, and my raking finished for the afternoon, it was the perfect time for reading a few pages…and a beer.

OK…I have put myself on notice…no more books brought into the house, even from the library…until I get through the many great ones I have here on my shelf I need to read. I don’t make time to read like I should. I do more of my “reading”, on my laptop or i-pad, but it’s not the same as picking up a novel. All it takes is one good book to remind me I DO have time to read…it’s just making it a priority.

I like to get at least one new book for Christmas. This year I asked for the latest John Grisham. I have read most of his books and have pretty much-loved every one of them, but its been many years since I have read a new one. I am really enjoying Rogue Lawyer and has reminded me why he is one of my favorite authors. I’m not quite finished, but so far it’s everything I like in a John Grisham book.

What I’m Listening to: Under the Influence podcast

Ever since the Jian Gomeshi leaving the Q radio show situation and subsequent downfall, I have tried, but have given up on listening to it. I don’t care for the new host…at all. So at that time I figured I would branch out into podcasts to listen to mostly while I am working in the kitchen, or walking. I have a growing list of ones I like, but one of my favorites..also a CBC show..is Under the Influence with Terry O’Reilly. I listened to one the other night while doing dishes, and actually smiled and enjoyed my time, all thanks to Under the Influence! Not all podcasts are good..this one is.

What I’m Watching: House of Cards: Season 2

I don’t watch much TV. My daughter Grace and I watch Survivor and a few of the family shows like Modern Family, The Middle, etc, but other than that, I rarely watch anything for myself. I watched most of the first season of House of Cards when it came out a few years ago, then just never got back into it. Then one cold, wintry evening when everyone else was busy, I sort of binge watched 3 episodes, and got totally sucked back in. The bad part about Netflix is no one is ever exactly where you are. After I watched the first episode of Season 2….one of the best hours of TV I had seen in years…I desperately wanted to talk to someone about it…but everyone else on the planet is already through Season 4. Anyway…I LOVE this show. I love/hate Frank Underwood and his wife Claire. The political drama of the show is fascinating and well done. I’m always late to the party…but I can’t get enough of House of Cards.
