So much has changed in the past week, as we deal with the Coronavirus pandemic here locally, across our country and around the world. Schools are now closed, Canadians abroad are urged to get home while they can, and social isolating and social distancing are now common phrases, and a reality we all need to be taking seriously. Stocking up your home and pantry is a reality now we all need to deal with.
From working at home, to having the kids out of school, advice from the experts to “flatten the curve” and limit the spread of the virus, is to social distance, meaning minimizing close contact with others. As we navigate through this over the coming weeks and months, one thing is certain, many of us will be home a lot more, and for an extended period. Planning during this time will make the reality a lot easier and also help minimize risk.
Being prepared will make social distancing, or social isolation much easier to navigate and will help ease these new routines and realities. A well-stocked pantry and medicine cabinet will assure that you can still provide healthy meals for your family, so important any time, but especially during times like these.
There have been a lot of people “panic buying” and we have all seen and heard about toilet paper and hand sanitizer shortages. We suggest instead, stocking up on essentials to make sure you have what you need, especially if you were to become ill, or required to social isolate.
Many stores are offering seniors shopping to minimize risk to those most vulnerable and The Atlantic Superstore offers online shopping through their PC Express, which allows you to shop at home, pull up in front of the store, and they will load the groceries in your car, without you even having to get out. Ideal for this time.
