With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays, it can be easy to get lost in a sea of endless to-do lists. It’s important to remember to take time to appreciate all that we have, give thanks and to give back when we can. Appreciating their customers and the public’s support all year, Gow’s Home Hardware is in the spirit of giving back…now…and all through the year! This past month there have been several initiatives which have allowed them to lend a hand and support the community.
Family Support Centre Makeover
Gow’s Home Hardware recently spent two days at the Family Support Centre in Bridgewater giving the space a fresh coat of paint. The bright and warm colors certainly makes it an inviting spot for families and caregivers. Great job Jake and Matt!
Health Services Foundation
The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore supports the South Shore Regional Hospital and Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and associated sites within Lunenburg County by raising funds for enhanced health care. During their annual Customer Appreciation Night in November, Gow’s Home Hardware was able to raise $2,431 in support of the Health Services Foundation. These funds will go to the Foundation’s 2018 Radiothon and their goal of purchasing a new ultrasound machine.
Salvation Army Turkey Drive
Recognizing the need for a space for the Salvation Army’s Annual Turkey Drive to carry on where Curtis and the staff at Sears had left off…Gow’s Home Hardware along with Gow’s Home Furniture, immediately stepped up. They have freezers located near the front of the store where the public is encouraged to drop off a turkey to support families in need this holiday season. They are hoping to fill Curtis’s big shoes and make the Gow’s First Annual Turkey Drive a major success!
Salvation Army Giving Tree
This year Gow’s Home Hardware is continuing their tradition of supporting children and families with their “Giving Tree” located in the Housewares department. Tags adorn the tree with a childs age and requested or needed item. Take a tag and leave a gift so Christmas can be a little bit brighter for children in Lunenburg County.
Sponsor a Family
The staff at Gow’s Home Hardware are also in the spirit of Giving Back and this year are sponsoring a local family this Christmas. Providing gifts and a Turkey Dinner is one way they are giving back and making someones holidays a little more special.
Gow’s Home Hardware is a community supporter all year but especially during the holiday season when the need is great. It makes it one of the many reasons why Gow’s Home Hardware was recently awarded the Best Hardware Store Award at the 2017 Outstanding Retailer Awards. This National Award recognizes Gow’s Home Hardware as the best hardware store in all of Canada…amazing!
Owner Amanda Fancy, credits their loyal customers and outstanding staff for them receiving this prestigious award for the 3rd time in their history.
