Ever since I spotted the adorable Seaweed Tours bus at the end of August on the Lunenburg waterfront, I knew I wanted to hop on and check it out. Nancy Rogers is the owner of this venture and came up with such a great service to offer to tourists and locals, scenic storytelling tours. Exploring our beautiful shoreline, or sitting back and sipping on some locally made wine, Nancy and Seaweed Tours is here for you.
I grabbed lunch at The Grand Banker and then crossed the street to hop on the Seaweed Tours bus for the Hidden Gems Storytelling Tour. This 60+ minute tour, takes you off the beaten path and into those idyllic spots, that show the true beauty of the coast and that everyone loves to photograph.
We made a stop in Stonehurst and even though I’m a local, I never stop being in awe of our beautiful surroundings. The others on the bus, were visitors and it was really fun to listen and hear their excitement over these beautiful spots.
Nancy tells stories along the way of how she landed back in Lunenburg, some local tales of and a bit of the history of the area. Storytelling is a gift and Nancy has a warmth and charm to her that makes every story interesting and some are down right funny.
After Stonehurst, the bus makes it way to Blue Rocks, a true “hidden” gem on the South Shore. At each stop, there is time to wander a bit and take photos. It was a a beautiful fall day when I went and it was the perfect time of year to take in the sights and sounds.
Seaweed Tours just started in August and Nancy is open to tour ideas and suggestions. She has already taken a few groups out to visit the wineries in the valley and has another upcoming trip booked. Private charters are another option, which would be perfect for birthday or bachelorette parties.
Seaweed Tours is such a wonderful addition to the South Shore. Perfect for locals looking for something fun and perfect to take visitors on. I love the idea of booking it and doing a South Shore winery/craft brewery tour. Who’s with me? 😉
