Some people on the South Shore are known widely by just their first name. Think Madonna….Cher…just like those icons, we have our own in our local flower growing industry… Svenja. If you frequent the Lunenburg or Hubbards Farmers Market, then you most likely know Svenja Dee, from Tulipwood. Everytime I hear someone say Svenja’s name, it is followed by the blissful knowing look of someone who has bought flowers, bouquets or wreaths from Tulipwood.
Svenja Dee studied horticulture in Germany before moving to Nova Scotia in 2000. She interned at a flower farm before launching her own. Her bouquets and arrangements are a bounty of locally grown flowers and wild-harvested greenery for authentic, homegrown beauty.
Each holiday season, Svenja has partnered with Sharon Hanlon-Morash of Cakes Etc for the South Shore’s favourite festival pop-up shop.
Sharon is a supplier of desserts, wedding cakes, specialty desserts and many other items. Sharon fills the festive shop with shortbread cookies, spicy pecans and lemon ginger marmalade. Cracked Pepper and Parmesan Biscotti anyone?
Svenja’s arrangements differ each time you go in the Festive Shop. Using natural materials, she creates stunning arrangements perfect for any holiday home.
The Festive Shop is located at 152 Montague Street in Lunenburg and open Friday and Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 12-4 until December 14th.
From sweet to savoury treats, fresh handmade wreaths, table arrangements, amaryllis and other creations with wonderful natural materials are waiting for you at the Festive Shop in Lunenburg. Check out their Facebook page for the latest on shop openings, etc.
Have you been to the Festive Shop in Lunenburg? If so, what did you pick up?
