Looking for a fun, educational way to spend an afternoon in a picturesque setting? Why not sign up for a Petite Riviere Vineyards Winery Tour!
This French inspired Winery located on the South Shore of Nova Scotia is close to many of the areas beautiful beaches. You can easily fill a day in Petite visiting the antique shops, rug hooking studios and art galleries.
The tour provides you with some wonderful history. Did you know this area is home to one of the oldest grape growing regions in North America? The drumlins with their rocky, sandy soil, coupled with the micro-climate that also exists there are ideal for a vineyard. The Petite Winery is home to two vineyards, opened it’s building in 2002 and is known for the quality of its red wines.
I have to confess I have taken the tour before and even volunteered one fall during the grape harvest. I love this Winery and feel fortunate to live so close by. They host many events there as well such as concerts, art shows, weddings and even yoga classes.
Fall would be a perfect time to grab some girlfriends or couples, and do a winery tour. Our group of four-headed to Best Coast Coffee Gallery for an early lunch before heading to the Winery. After the tasting portion and our tour concluded, we settled into the Adirondacks on their terrace, overlooking the vineyards and relaxed and chatted. They welcome you to bring a lunch or snack along to enjoy after the tour.
The history, the tour of the vineyards and cellar and the fun food and wine pairings make for a really enjoyable outing. The Ultimate Vineyard and Winery Tour run from Wednesday to Sunday at 12:00pm and takes about 90 minutes and they suggest you book ahead so they are prepared.
Have you been to the Vineyards? Is it on your bucket list? We’d love to hear about your adventures.
