Wow…this year is flying by! We just turned the calendar to November and before you know it we will be saying good-bye to 2017. I checked the weather this morning and saw the mention of a possibility of flurries later next week. It’s finally time to start planning for some soups and stews and putting that slow cooker to good use! Don’t have all your ingredients for your favorite recipe? It’s Big Sale week at Sam’s No Frills which is a great time to stock up and make meal planning easy.
Besides meal planning, stocking up on your favorite pantry items when they are on sale is another great way to save money on your grocery bill. Once you begin paying attention to prices you will be able to recognize when a product is on sale for a really good price. I call that the “stock-up” price. Depending on the size of your family and how often you use that product, you may want to stock-up during a sale.
Beans, pasta, peanut butter, broth, soup, tuna….these are just a few of the items I like to stock up on when they are on a good sale. This week at Sam’s No Frills I grabbed Campbell’s Chicken Broth, Unico beans and pasta for my meal plan, but also picked up a few more to keep on my pantry shelf. Prices on grocery items can fluctuate a lot from week to week. One week peanut butter can be $2.99…and the next $6.49. You can save yourself a lot of money by paying attention to prices and then stocking up when they are on sale.
Here’s what we’re having this week…

Another way to save money on your grocery bill each week is to plan to have a few meatless meals. We are actually having three next week. I wasn’t thinking about that when I was making my menu, those are just meals we like and worked with what was on sale, but it can definitely make your meal plan more affordable as well.
You can watch my Facebook Live where I talked through the meal plan and also some meals I was prepping for our busy weekend…
I also picked up some fresh flowers for only $8.00…because they make me happy. 🙂
Do you guys stock up on any particular items when they are on sale? Have a meatless Monday each week ? Leave a comment and let me know. Have a great weekend! 🙂

We always stock up the essentials when they are on sale. I agree why pay 6.49 for peanut butter if you can buy it for 2.99. Thanks Jennifer for your post, they are always helpful 🙂
Peanut Butter seems to have one of the biggest swings in price, so I always buy 4-6 when they are on sale for $2.49. 🙂
The other two basic items that swing are ketchup and salad dressing! Love your blog!
