Meal Plan Monday- February 1

My meal plan this week did not involve me looking up recipes, scanning the sales and sitting and writing a detailed list. Sometimes life doesn’t work like that. In a busy week, I made my meal plan as I shopped and checked a recipe on my phone while I was there. I still left though with a very basic plan, and feel ready for the week. Welcome to Meal Plan Monday!

This weeks meal plan is from the Atlantic Superstore.

Here’s what I bought…

Pork Roast- $8.38
Picnic Smoked Ham- $11.89
Large bag Frozen Green Peas- $3.49
2 bags Russet Potatoes- $4.00
2 boxes of Barilla Farfelle (bowtie) pasta- $1.98

Here’s what I had at home:

carrots
onions
garlic
applesauce
chicken broth
butter
milk
1/2 cream
parmesan cheese
salt and pepper

* I bought 2 bags of potatoes this week because of the 2/$4.00 price, but we will only use 1 this week.

This week I am making:

Ham with Applesauce, Mashed Potatoes and Peas

Creamy Ham and Pea Pasta

Pork Roast Dinner in the slow cooker (with potatoes and carrots)

These are very easy, barely a recipe, type meals. I will be cooking and slicing my picnic ham, serving it one night with potatoes and peas. Then using some of the leftover ham, making a pasta dish the next night, and one night this week we will be having a pork roast dinner.

Total cost for these 3 meals: $34.00 … $11.33 a meal…serving 5 of us…$2.26 a person.

The cost of groceries continues to rise. With a little thought, even done on the fly, you can still feed your family real food, inexpensively. You just need a plan.
