It’s Monday…thank God. We just went through a crazy, jam packed weekend with a 3 road trips, volleyball, hockey, a conference, and a pot luck. It was all good, but honestly I’m thankful for the routine of a week day after a slightly exhausting few days. But so is life, and this time we are in. Knowing I have a meal plan set for this week is helping me feel a little more in control…which is What I’m really thankful for on a Monday morning. It’s Meal Plan Monday!

If you followed last weeks Meal Plan Monday post, a lot of the groceries for this weeks meal plan are carried over, which is why the “What I Have” list is a little bit longer. So I spent $47.17 on this week’s groceries, some of which will be left over for future meals like the cheese and salad dressing, etc. I estimate the cost of this weeks meal plan would be around $43.47…or $10.86 a meal on average. You can spend that much on ONE “value” meal at McDonald’s. My meals typically feed a family of five…so…$2.17/person.
Tuna Burgers are a family favourite and something you can throw together in the morning or even take out of the oven and make a great “on the go” supper on the way to an evening practice or activity. There is no real recipe, I mix up 3 cans of tuna with a little Miracle Whip and occasionally throw in a spoonful or two of relish. I spread the mixture on 8 buns and then top with some old cheddar. Wrap them in tin foil and broil for about 10-15 minutes. Easy, peasy.
Even if you don’t have time this week to do an organized shop, take a look in your freezer or cupboards and decide what you can make this week from what you already have. Write it down. Stick it on the fridge. Feel a little peace over another busy week. It’s a simple thing, but it works.

This is my first time reading your “Meal Plan Monday” posts and it will certainly not be the last! What a great idea, thanks for sharing your suggestions!
Thanks Jenna! So nice to meet you this weekend…let’s stay in touch!
My goal (and has been for a long time) its to do better meal planning and not spend so much money on food. It’s our biggest expense. I will have to frequent your site more often.
It’s definitely a budget item that you have some control over. Planning makes a world of difference. 🙂
Sounds like a great week of meals! Meal planning and prepping is essential for me to stay on track!
Me too. It helps make sure we are eating what we need to be/should be. (mostly) 😉
This is amazing I am so glad to have found you. I love to cook but am shocked by how expensive my grocery bills are. Thanks for sharing this I will have to try.
There are different items on sale each week. The trick is making a plan…and sticking to it. You can do this!
I think planning out your meals for the week really helps control the grocery bill and it’s healthier too.
That roast chicken sounds good! I always make a meal plan too, especially cause I sometimes come home late it’s good to not have to think about what to make anymore
Having a plan makes all the difference. 🙂
