March Break on the South Shore

It seems crazy but March actually begins next week…what??? I swear I just stopped listening to Christmas music a few weeks ago…;)  If you’re a parent with school-aged kids, this time of year also means March Break and a full slate of free days. Good news…there is lots to do to enjoy March Break on the South Shore!

Here in Nova Scotia we never know what the weather will be like mid-March, so you might be looking to make some plans to keep the kids busy and having fun. If you’re home with the kids, working or maybe asking the grandparents to help out.  Here’s a few ideas for you…

Atlantica Oak Island Resort

Atlantica Oak Island Resort is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re away, even when you’re close to home. They have a package which includes overnight accommodation, breakfast, swims, and indoor and outdoor camp favorites. Of course there is also the indoor pool.  If there’s any spare time maybe the kids can search for that darn treasure. 😉

March Break on the South Shore

Atlantica Oak Island Resort has a March Break Madness Family Camp . A Package starts at $162.00 per night plus taxes per a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children ages up to 12) Includes your overnight accommodation, breakfast and recreational activities. REMEMBER: kids under 5 eat free (with conditions). Each additional child is $20

Art Happening in Bridgewater

Art Happening is hosting a March Break Camp this year! Programming runs from 9am-4pm with drop-off beginning at 8:30am and pick-up running until 4:30pm at the latest. Part of the day includes Free Art Time which  will consist of semi-structured time to create props, make costumes, dream up characters or simply read, hang out, play or use Art Happening’s supplies to create to their hearts’ content!

March Break on the South Shore

Come create with us, as we draw inspiration from the LaHave River at Art Happening. Campers will build a river inspired backdrop, complete with props, where each camper will get into character and perform as part of a group. Campers will traverse the rewarding waters of art making using a variety of textures, materials and techniques to transform the space into an immersive environment. Campers will start off by building the set through painting out a backdrop and creating three-dimensional props for the landscape. Each camper will develop their own character by deciding on a voice, body language, and clothing. Each afternoon, we will do dance and body movement to help us loosen up and get ready to act. It’s the most fun to be had in town, so be sure to set sail for adventure with Art Happening this March Break!

March Break Camps- PC Kitchen Kids

March Break on the South Shore

I love the idea of kids learning a new skill in a fun way. How about a cooking class where they could be making pizza lasagna, mac and cheese or rainbow cupcakes? Who knows maybe they will be inspired and help make supper during the break? Check out this link for more details on the PC Kitchen Kids March Break classes at the Atlantic Superstore in Bridgewater.

March Break on the South Shore

Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers and facility operators who work hard to plan special events and programming during this time. Lots of options to keep everyone happy during the March Break on the South Shore! Enjoy….and remember…it’s supposed to be a “break”. Curling up with a good book, watching a movie at home or going for a beach walk, all sound good too. 🙂
