Have plans made yet for Valentine’s Day? I didn’t think so. Somehow planning a holiday in mid-February can sort of sneak up on you…but who doesn’t enjoy a little pick me up? Here’s what I know after 20 years of marriage….most husbands appreciate a well-played hint….or in my case, I just S-P-E-L-L it out. 😉 Help them out…help out your community…spread some Local “South Shore” Love this Valentine’s Day!
For a lot of our local businesses, mid winter can be a bit of a slog with storms, icy roads and a lot of people just hunkering down and staying home. In order to have these unique, places here to show off and frequent during the rest of the year, we need locals supporting them during the slower times as well. Some hearts and flowers…wine and chocolates…or craft beer and paint….lots of options and different ways to celebrate with friends or your significant other, here on the South Shore.
Here are some ideas…feel free to share…or print it off…circle the ones you like…and leave it strategically lying around somewhere. 😉
Valentine’s Weekend at White Point
OK…this sounds like the ultimate way to celebrate Valentine’s Day…make it a weekend at White Point Beach Resort! Beach walks, sitting by the fire in the lounge listening to live entertainment, dinner in the dining room, bonfire and s’mores on the beach….c’mon …this is pretty special. 🙂 Even if you don’t want to make a weekend of it, they have a Valentine’s Buffet on February 10th.
Valentine’s Dinner at The Port Grocer
You’ve been to The Port Grocer right? If you haven’t yet…you must put on your list…or check them out for Valentine’s Day. Located in Port Medway, The Port Grocer is a cafe, general store, art space…a real community space. They have lovely boxed lunches, a beautiful Sunday Brunch and of course they are infamous for their Friday Night Pub Nights, with live music and dinner. I love it there!

Craft to Craft Lobster Event- Hosted by Atlantica Oak Island Resort and Conference Centre
Ok…this sounds like so much fun to do as a couple! On February 9th from 7:00pm-9:00pm, sip some local Saltbox Brew while you work with experts from Front Porch Mercantile to paint your very own Lobster sign or Anchor! Heck…you could even book a room right there at Atlantica Oak Island Resort and make a night of it. 🙂 Playing with paint and sipping some craft beer…sounds pretty romantic to me. 😉

Wine and Chocolate Tasting Event- Petite Riviere Vineyard
This sounds pretty darn sweet …see what I did there? 😉 I love a good daytime event…and this one sounds fun! Held on February 10th from 10:00am-4:00pm at Petite Riviere Vineyards…you could go a beautiful beach walk and then stop into the Winery for the event…and pick up a bottle of wine to continue the celebration at home. 🙂
Wine & Chocolate Tasting event featuring local chocolatier, Maritime Morsels, as well as sampling of rare Peruvian chocolates by Nacional Cacao, all paired with Petite Riviére Vineyards wines!
Board Game Night- Art Happening
Looking for a unique date night? How about heading to Art Happening in Bridgewater and take part in their Board Game Night? They have coffee and a wide variety of Board Games guaranteed to be fun! You can even bring your own snacks! Go as a couple or grab some friends and head out for an entertaining evening! Admission is by donation. 🙂
