You may have seen them at the Fo’c’sle Village Pub in Chester, at the popular summertime Picnic in the Park, or perhaps caught them filling the dance floor at FirkinStein in Bridgewater, but after 10 years of playing together at local bars and events CS&D have something new to offer: their first album of original songs.
Made up of Wanda Baxter, Paul and Rick Charron, Randy Colwell, Stewart Franck and Bruce Jollymore, Cut, Split & Delivered is a 6-piece, Americana-influenced rock band from the South Shore of Nova Scotia. Their distinctive sound combines layered vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, violin, Caribbean percussion and, occasionally mandolin and harmonica.
Randy, Bruce and Wanda are originally from greater St. John, NB and all found their way to the South Shore nearly 20 years ago. After connecting with father and son duo, Paul and Rick Charron and the energetic Stewart Frank, they formed Cut Split and Delivered and like all bands, took some time to establish their own feel and style.
After 10 years of playing in pubs and supporting annual events, like the Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser, the timing seemed right to record their own album. With everyone on board, and everyone finally having the time at the same time, the band did a 3-day retreat and at the end of it, they had worked out full band arrangements of 12 previously-written songs
Using gig money they’d put away over the years, they self-financed their record and were thrilled to work with Kirk Comstock of Comstock Recording Studio in Lunenburg.
We have been recording our first album of original material over the last year with Kirk Comstock at Comstock Recording Studios in Lunenburg, N.S., and we are releasing the 12-song, self-titled recording on October 15, 2021. We can’t wait to share these songs. They are about heartbreak and overcoming, they’re about wanting to get out of town and wanting a brand new record to play. They’re about being wrong most of the time, and the lap of luxury moving in, and they’re about dealing with pain, and loss, and trying for a life we wouldn’t want to change. Sometimes, they’re just about the jam.
Cut, Split & Delivered
After all these years together, the members of Cut, Split & Delivered feel they have grown as a band. They have been together through some good times and bad and they are like an extended family by now. They have a focused intention on what they put out, and feel a lot of their songs are stories from their lived experiences.
