We all have them…those holiday recipes that we reach for year after year, signaling the start of the festive season. Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls – A Delicious Treat
Introducing Simple Local Life “Recipe Contributor” Vicki Macdonald I really enjoy cooking and baking, but a lot of time, especially this past year, I feel like I am just in the business of churning out food to keep us all going. I fall back on those family favourites time and time again. When I need …
Apple Picking means Apple Crisp
What says fall more than apple crisp? It’s a perfect way to use up some of the season’s delicious apple crop while making your house smell heavenly at the same time. Each year my daughter goes apple picking with her best friend and her family. They head out to the Valley and make a day …
Cinnamon Apple Bread
What says “back to school” more than apples? It’s September and apple season is just getting underway here in Nova Scotia with some local Gravensteins making their first appearance at our local farm markets. This is the perfect time to try a new apple recipe or two. Trust me, anytime you combine apples and cinnamon, someone will come in and say “what smells so good?!” Our favourite this time of year is Cinnamon Apple Bread.
I’ve made this Apple Cinnamon Bread twice this week already! It’s a great after school snack, and declared by my daughter’s best friends as one of the “best things ever!” 😉 I told her I would share the recipe so she could try to make it herself sometime. Quick to assemble, basic staple ingredients…a fun project to let the kids tackle sometime.
Here’s what you need:
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 large apple, peeled and finely chopped
Check out Melissa at The Happier Homemaker for the recipe.
The air is starting to cool a bit, we’re grabbing sweaters when we head outside, this Cinnamon Apple Bread goes perfectly with this change in the seasons. September..apples…and bread…sounds good to me.
