Do you have a summer to-do list? I’m not talking about cleaning out the garage, or getting the house painted…like a FUN summer to-do list! My list is pretty simple…mostly local…but one of the things I really wanted to do this summer, was to make it down to the Best Coast Coffee Gallery in Broad Cove, for one of their Pasta Nights. There’s nothing better than the scenic drive down to Broad Cove, a lovely local supper in a charming cafe, followed by an evening beach walk. Trust me, this is a summer memory you will look back on fondly. ** Please note this spot is no closed **

In the summer I enjoy a nice cold beer. If available, I will order a selection from one of our local craft breweries. I was happy to see they had Hell Bay Brewing Company on the list and went with their English Ale. Hell Bay is a small local brewery that has been operating out of Liverpool, Queens County, for the past five years. I have been thinking about that English Ale ever since I’ve had it…it was delicious! Served with a frosty glass, it was the perfect way to start our relaxing evening.
With Pasta Night you get a choice of three different pasta offerings. This past week there was a Creamy Mac and Cheese, a Beef Lasagna, and a Greek Spaghetti which I choose, complete with greek olives and feta cheese.
For dessert the choices were lemon cake or a chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream. I went with the brownie, and ordered a cappuccino, which was a perfect way to finish off my meal.
For $25.00 you get a salad, choice of pasta and dessert. A very reasonable price to support one of our small local businesses who in turn is supporting other local operations. It’s a win/win for everyone! A word of caution…you need a reservation…or you will miss out or end up waiting. There was a whole group of people outside waiting for the early crowd to leave, so they could get their tables. They have lovely benches and aidorandacks outside, so spending some time outside chatting, is pretty sweet too.
If time allows, after your dinner, or coffee at Best Coast, drive…or walk…the short distance to Broad Cove Beach.
It is a quiet, little local beach where you can sit and enjoy the scenery and the wildlife. *** The night we were there we watched a family of 5 seals frolicking in the ocean (couldn’t get a good picture…) and many piping plovers.
Drive home through Volgers Cove and you may even be treated to scenes like this one…
Best Coast Coffee Gallery will be open until Oct. 1. They are closed on Mondays and are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. most days. On Tuesdays and Fridays they have extended hours for special meals and events.
My sister and I stopped in for a coffee and a piece of the best coconut cream pie we ever had along with our brother , his wife, and their two friends. It was a very beautiful little cafe with very friendly staff. Thank You ! We certainly will be back! !
I almost ordered the coconut cream pie the last time we were there…I may need to go back! 😉
