Sunday morning I usually grab a coffee and take time to catch-up on some stories I may not have had time to read throughout the week.  I thought you might enjoy them with your Sunday morning coffee as well.

This 92-year-old birthday boy received 4,500 cards from around the world

I had shared the CBC story previously about this gentleman, whose daughter sent out a tweet asking for people to send him birthday cards,  as waiting for the mail was a highlight of his day since he became a widower. The response to this…and the joy and excitement this has brought him…could make this my favourite story of the year! I hope he continues to get mail.

Who could you send a card or note to?  Such a small gesture…could mean so much.

Ocean devotion: A Lunenburg café owner’s fight against single-use plastics

When Margaret Hoegg suggested she write a zero waste/green column each month for Simple Local Life, I knew changing our wasteful ways was a topic people were interested in. Congrats to Kate’s Sweet Indulgence Café and Catering, for taking this on and making the necessary changes, and to all the local restaurants and eateries who are doing the same. One small step at a time.
