It’s early September, but we are still catching up on some of the fun we had this summer. Without a doubt one of our highlights, was our weekend getaway in PEI. From catching the sunset at Covehead Harbour Lighthouse to walking the amazing Greenwich Dunes Trail in the National Park, Prince Edward Island had us smitten and wondering why it had been so long since our last visit. I knew from doing a little research, that I definitely wanted to check out The Dunes Studio Gallery and Cafe in Brackley Beach, and put that on my “must-do” list. So glad I did…because, it was incredible!
When you pull up you have no idea what is waiting for you on the other side….
The Galleries
The galleries are filled with incredible artwork and furniture pieces. It is stunning. You can spend hours wandering around the many buildings and gardens. The glories feature work of over 50 Canadian artisans. Fine woodworking, gold and silver jewelry, textiles, stained and blown glass, candles, baskets, preserves, soaps, books, etc. There is also a pottery studio where you can check out the kiln and see the latest pieces in production. Amazing!
Look at the table and chair set!
The Gardens
On the bottom level, you walk outside and immediately see this beautiful fountain. The gardens, the sculptures, the fountain…you feel like you have transported to an entirely different place. It is incredible. I took lots of photos, but it’s hard to do it justice.
They even have beautiful loungers by the fountain to relax. Grace and I took some time to live our best life. 😉
Beautiful garden spaces fill the back yard of the Dunes Gallery. The building itself is just magnificent. This is really something you should check out when you’re on the island.
All throughout the back, there is piece after piece of amazing wooden furniture and sculptures. Troy was completely gobsmacked and couldn’t stop taking photos and trying out every piece. The wood and the craftsmanship are just stunning!
Also amazing vegetable gardens where I spotted the chef out picking fresh produce and herbs for the cafe. Seriously…this place!
I was so happy. I could have stayed there all day. (we were there for close to 3 hours. 😉 )
The Cafe
I knew from reading reviews, that I wanted to have lunch at the cafe. We got in line and got a table just in time, because it filled up quickly. We had an absolutely delicious meal. Troy and Grace had seafood chowder and I had the Lobster Asparagus Quiche…which was AMAZING!
The Dunes Gallery really was the perfect spot for our family. Troy loved the wood pieces and sculptures, Grace loved being able to shop inside in the clothing and jewelery section, and I loved it all, but in particular the gardens and our lovely meal in the cafe. This is such a unique place and feels far removed from the busy tourist sites. It can be busy there, but it’s just so different from what you think of when you visit PEI. I highly recommend checking out The Dunes Studio, Gallery and Cafe. It’s just incredible.
Have you been to The Dunes Studio before? What was your favourite part? I’d love to know what you thought of it…leave a comment and let us know!
