I see them popping up on my Facebook feed regularly this time of year…summer jobs…and in particular summer student jobs. Yes…it’s not all beach trips and ice cream…summer is also a great time for students to gain valuable skills and also of course save some money for their continuing education. Good news…there are lots of places…right here on the South Shore… looking to hire the right person!
Most of the positions being advertised now are typically jobs that are being subsidized by the Government of Canada as part of their Canada Summer Jobs program. Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is an initiative of the Summer Work Experience program. It provides wage subsidies to employers to create employment for secondary and post-secondary students. The deadline to apply for these grants was February 9th, and there are certain criteria that must be met.
Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.
So I thought it might be helpful to have some of these positions in one place. I’m really doing this for the parents. Now you can just send them one link…instead of repeatedly messaging them with the latest job postings. You’re welcome. 😉
