Corporate Christmas Party….for One

Ahhhh…the life of a blogger…working from home…day after day…after day. All alone at the kitchen table…I mean…my desk…in my yoga pants and slippers…I mean…my pant suit and heels! (#Imstillwithher) Blogging can be a bit lonely and a bit of a slog sometimes….at least until the Christmas Party!!! No fancy office party to attend, so I did what any blogger would do and threw myself a Corporate Christmas Party….for One! What a time!

First of all the weather was not great that day, so I was considering cancelling…but then I realized, I was already home and could make it….so the party went ahead! What a relief!

I started the party off with my signature holiday drink, my Homemade Irish Cream. That always warms everyone up and gets you in the Christmas spirit. 2016 has had its challenges…I was looking for a little Christmas spirit…I found it…;)

Then it was on to the reading of one of my favourite Christmas stories…I went with “I’ve seen Santa…”. I realize reading a story at a Christmas Party might sound lame…but no one complained! I love Christmas books. πŸ™‚

I took it upon myself to organize the Cookie Exchange and dessert portion of the Party. Tiramasu for 1…and shortbread cookies are always a hit. So good!

Then it was time for the always anticipated “Awards” part of the event. So. Much. Fun! I was shocked to receive an award and oh my word…”Most Likely to Put the Coffee On!”….do I know myself or what? Speaking of which…

It was time to put the coffee on…no one else jumped up, AND I was just given the award…so I figured I better do it.

The Santa hats came out, some selfies were taken, and all in all it was another great Christmas Party! Thanks for reading Simple Local life this year and for joining me at my Corporate Christmas Party for One.

Your party looks like a lot of fun, and no bad memories of too much wine, dirty dancing ……. oh wait, those were mine from years ago. Homemade wine for mine, Christmas movies and cat curled up on my lap – hope your Christmas is great, I look forward to next year with you.

    That was hilarious… Love it!!
I will also be having a solo party.
I think next year we should combine our Christmas Parties.

    • It was fun…and a shout out to my 13 year old daughter Grace who was slightly mortified I was doing this…but was a big help with the pictures. πŸ˜‰

Well done Jen! No Christmas parties for the retired…but, many other perks!
What a great year for you! I so enjoy your insightful perspective, your lighthearted humour and those recipes and meal plans, Ah…the meal plans. When I grow up, I wanna be just like you. Congratulations and I hope next year is filled with adventure and news for you to share…and meal plans. Looks like a great party, by the way !

What fun! I enjoy reading your blog and I can tell you enjoy writing it. That’s what life is about. Our staff party had a few more folks and most were wearing Christmas attire; some sparkly, some intentionally of the ” ugly sweater ” variety. Merry Christmas!

Jennifer, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog, this one as well as all the others. I love Meal Plan Mondays! Your Christmas Party for One sounded like fun and had everything you like, that makes for a perfect party! I appreciated that you had added one of my properties to your blog last week, it truly is a sweet spot! Keep on blogging, it’s been great! Merry Christmas to you!

    I. Can’t. EVEN. with how much I love this!! And may I say that is a phenomenal idea to think to hire a photographer to take candids at your party – no need to have your guest(s) worrying about capturing the moment! πŸ™‚ Our office Christmas party is tonight at 27 South at the Best Western Plus Hotel and Convention Centre. Great menu and always great service! πŸ™‚ Merry Christmas to you and all of the “staff” at Simple Local Life!

  7. This is so awesome Jennifer! Me too working alone makes for an adjustment for sure! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season and all the best in 2017! Cheers!

  8. Jennifer, your Christmas party sounded amazing. Congratulations on the Award, I’m sure it was well deserved. No office Christmas party for me this year (first time in 43 years). Lots of great (and somewhat embarrassing) memories of years past though. Being retired has meant no frantic shopping at lunchtime and after work, so more time to relax and enjoy the Christmas spirit. Love your Blog and looking forward to more in 2017. Merry Christmas to You and Yours.

Looks like you had a fund party. Congratulations on the award. No office Christmas parties this year but a first of many friends’ Christmas parties tomorrow night.
I love all the meal plans. I will be checking back for more.

So fun! And you dressed up for your party – very lovely. (note to self – dress code next year, then Romeo can take the photos) My company is officially starting a “Most Likely to Put the Coffee On!” award for next year – another great idea! Thanks!

  16. This post was a hoot. No Christmas party here. Working from home can be lonely but thank goodness for the internet!! All the best for you in the new year. Happy Christmas πŸŽ„

  17. Jennifer this your most classic blog to date – love it. Afraid I had to cancel my Christmas party for one due to illness of the only guest. However, fear not the party will go ahead in the New Year and likley to be a rauchous affair (for about five minutes) and then said said party goer will probably go for a well deserved nap. Merry Christmas and looking forward to next years blogs πŸ™‚

    Hey Jenn,
Great post, thanks for the laugh! Our Christmas party was held in the party room at Pizza Delight. Food and service was great! One of our parents found out and surprised us with appetizers. Staff and partners brought gifts for Yankie swap and I have to say that I was disappointed when someone swapped the homemade lLunenburg sausage and sauerkraut that I had swapped from someone. Lol. Fun night with incredible people!
