Facebook Post Looking For New Friends Leads To Overwhelming Response

I had seen this lady’s post on Facebook, reaching out for friends after struggling with feeling isolated. In less than a week, there was enough interest to form a Newcomers group and they have already had a get-together!

There can be negatives to social media, but this type of thing, shows the incredible power it has to connect and bring people together.

Nova Scotia mourns loss of 27-year-old disability advocate

While we mourn the loss of 27 year old filmmaker, Alex Peeler, let’s also take time to recognize and celebrate his accomplishments. Alex was the owner of Squeaky Wheel Productions, a multimedia company that promoted equality and empowerment using digital media. He also worked as an Events Coordinator for the Town of Bridgewater, where he had recently organized Bridgewater’s first ever virtual Canada Day.

Alex had a YouTube Channel where he shared vlog type videos and also educational ones, giving updates and sharing information. Alex certainly left an impact on those around him and in his short 27 years, and used that time to educate and inform all of us on accessibility issues.

Our thoughts go out to his parents Shelley and Brian, siblings Alyssa and Anthony and his entire family, during this difficult time.
